An Earthship Biotecture worker checks the batteries in the Kinney Earthship in southern, Alberta. Modest battery systems easily allow super energy efficient homes such as Earthships to cost effectively go off grid. LFP 200 Portable Solar Power Generator System

This system can provide up to 1800 Watts of Pure Sine Wave (Regular Household Power) or regular 12v DC power you are used to using in your automobile.

The Battery modules can be recharged via Solar Power or a LiFePo4 specific quick charger. The batteries have digital battery monitors that display the exact state of charge of the battery and how long until the system needs to be recharged in hours and minutes.

The instructions for the pole barn kit had only seven steps. Of course each step involved about 20 other tasks but we were on our way.

When something like THIS or THAT strikes, I guess, it's too late to read a book. Caught you unprepared, because you're not like folks residing in the 'American Redoubt' :)

Yet, it might come handy though--as a bit of fuel to keep you in a whatever dwelling was left, warm:)

For many people living in developing nations, easy access to clean water is an ever-present struggle. It’s estimated that 1.2 billion people in the world are living in areas where uncontaminated water is scarce, and the equipment needed for purifying it isn’t always available.

In all the world... no waters like these.

56 KWH's of lithium battery storage on left, soon to be replaced by a new LiFePo4 battery bank.

The batteries pictured have worked flawlessly for 7 years (2 Chevy Volt and 1 Nissan Leaf), but they can be a fire hazard should one somehow catch fire as they are metal based.

The new LiFePo4 bank that I'm building right now is phosphate based and much safer, in fact, you can find destructive tests on YouTube where they try to catch one on fire and it's near impossible

I will sell off the Leaf and Volt batteries over time as they will make perfect candidates for golf cart conversions and are actually in high demand. Before I sell them, I'll run a capacity test on each of the (24) 48 volt modules so they will be accurately represented. As it stands, I can not tell any difference in how the system operates even after 7 years of 24/7 off grid use. It will be interesting to see how they test out.
