Gluggafoss aka Merkjafoss in the South of Iceland and close to Eyjafjallajoekull. It comes thundering down through a cleft onto a large rockpool and then continues after another small fall as river Merkja which meanders through the nearby meadows. At difference to the large and well-known waterfalls which all featured rows of rental cars queuing up, these smaller falls often offer solitude and precious moments, whether you are into photography or not.
Climbing Nightshade offers up beautiful flowers. Most articles I read mention the toxic nature of the berries, but this link states all parts are toxic. Perhaps I'll pop some gardening gloves in my pocket the next time I wander down the trail featuring these delightful flowers.
The romantic castle complex with its keep built around 1200 has a varied history of ownership. Bought in 1844 by the Neuchâtel-Prussian count family de Pourtalès and converted into a summer residence, the castle acquired its present appearance. Since 1954, a museum has been set up inside, which traces the history of the former inhabitants.
The main focus is on the 19th century and the count family who owned the castle at that time. The museum covers both the lords and the servants who lived under the same roof. Their sleeping chambers have been restored and are open to the public since 2017. The former castle kitchen is also newly accessible and can be experienced in an interactive presentation.
At the top of the tower is the Oriental smoking salon commissioned by Count Pourtalès, which conveys a unique atmosphere and offers a spectacular view over the lake and the mountains.
The castle chapel dates from the 15th century and features impressive wall paintings.
The castle park of Oberhofen is one of the most magnificent gardens in the Alpine region. With its striking groups of trees, exotic shrubs, a shady arbor and colorful flower beds, the historic landscape garden is an ideal oasis for relaxing and enjoying.
The Pitt Wildlife Management Area offers the perfect set of trails for nature lovers and bird watchers as well as those looking for a nice easy walk along the dikes of Pitt Lake.
Starting from the Grant Narrows parking lot, walk east past the boat launch area to the metal gate and continue along the Pitt Lake Dike. A short distance after leaving the parking area, you approach a wooden viewing lookout. Climb the stairs to the top and take in the views of Pitt Lake and the marsh area as well as the nature living throughout the area.

Triumph TR6 ('73-'74?)
Triumph TR6 History (1969-1976)
Offered as an affordable, six-cylinder sports car, the first Triumph TR6 rolled off the production line in 1968 as a 1969 model. It's intended target was to rival similar sports cars at the time, and although most were designed with sleek, curved lines, the TR6 was squared off at both ends, making it stand out from it's competitors. With just a seven year production span, the TR6 grew to become a true British classic.
The Triumph TR6 was offered as a convertible only, with a factory steel hard top available optionally. Construction was conservative; the body was bolted onto the frame, which featured a front anti-roll bar, rack and pinion steering, and semi-trailing arm independent rear suspension. Disc brakes were fitted at the front with drum brakes at the rear. The iconic look of the TR6 was completed by very distinctive 15-inch wheels and tires.
TR6 Engine Specs
The UK market TR6 had Lucas mechanical fuel-injection (150-horsepower), while the US market TR6 was fitted with a carbureter (104-horsepower). In 1973, the UK fuel-injected version was de-tuned to 125-horsepower through a camshaft change and revised fuel injection metering. These changes made the TR6 engine smoother and more flexible.
The base transmission was a manual 4-speed gearbox. An optional overdrive unit was available, and gave drivers close gearing for aggressive driving, with overdrive available on 2nd, 3rd and top gears on early models.
Acceleration from the 2.5 litre six-cylinder engine was quick; 0-60 mph in just 8.2 seconds. Equally impressive was a top speed of 120 mph.
The Triumph TR6 remained in production for a relatively short period of time, but has became one of the most popular and instantly recognizable cars in the company's stable. Most of the TR6 sales were in the U.S. - of the 94,619 models produced, 86,249 were exported, with just 8,370 sold in the U.K.

This cavern offers a completely ride-through cave experience on propane-powered Jeep-drawn trams.
Fantastic Caverns was discovered in 1862 by an Ozarks farmer -- or more precisely, by his dog, who crawled through a small entrance in a hillside. It wasn't until five years after its discovery that the first exploration of Fantastic Caverns took place: twelve women from Springfield, answering a newspaper ad seeking explorers, ventured into the cave. Fantastic Caverns is one of more than 7,300 documented caves in Missouri, and more are still being discovered. Missouri is called The Cave State.

May flower: the cactus that offers beauty instead of thorns:
The May flower - common name of the species Schlumbergera truncata - is one of those plants that we tend to despise most of the year. It is, after all, a true botanical commonplace:
since the days of grandma's gardens, it has been hanging around on any balcony or housed in cachepots on some furniture in the living room. It is also a champion of popularity in floras - ready to be pushed by sellers every time the consumer searches for a plant “for beginners”.
This is all true, yes. But, as I was able to feel myself this week, the fact that it is party rice does not eliminate the extraordinary value and the pleasure of having a May flower inside the house. And pleasure is precisely in the miracle that works, out of nowhere, in your metabolism. During most of the year, the May flower is a discreet little thing, with its branches formed by fragile and evergreen buds releasing at most new buds. Suddenly, sometime between the end of autumn and the beginning of winter, behold that dull plant explodes in buttons with extremely striking shapes and colors - mine, for example, pump out between May and July.

After flowering, it often withers, loses part of the buds and spends the rest of the year trying to recover from the excruciating effort of flowering.
The May flower is from the cactus family, but has no thorns. In its original habitat, the Atlantic Forest, it presents an epiphyte behavior. In other words: like orchids and many bromeliads, it uses tree trunks as a support. Thanks to horticultural improvement, the variety of colors available on the market today is immense. You can splurge, as you can see in this photo that illustrates this description, the flower of May WHITE.
Despite the fact that the May flower is a peaceful and favorable cultivation plant, some precautions are mandatory to avoid unpleasantness. Here is a basic guide to success:
1) SOIL - As it is a succulent, the may flower requires perfect drainage. She does, however, enjoy a lot of organic matter. So, plant it in pots with holes, filled with pebbles and sand at the bottom and the remaining two thirds completed with vegetable soil. Curiosity: if these conditions are met, the May flower can grow a lot and live for years in small pots.
2) WATERING - Do not overdo it and do not leave dishes filled with water under the pot, to avoid waterlogging and root rot. But also be sure to water frequently - two to four times a week, depending on the weather. She likes the slightly damp earth.
3) LUZ - This is, perhaps, the main catch. The May flower hates receiving direct sunlight, but enjoys well-lit environments. The right places for her, therefore, are balconies and bright interiors, but fresh. Or under the treetops.
4) FLOWERING - The May flower releases its buds when two variables combine: the nights become longer and the minimum temperatures are close to 10-15 degrees. And so it lives up to its name: in the Southeast of Brazil, these ideal conditions are usually registered between mid-May and the end of June.
5) POST-FLOWERING STRESS - May flower is a perennial species, that is, it does not die after giving flowers. Often, however, it cannot withstand the thud of its metabolic explosion: after so much effort, the stem buds become wilted and break easily. In the extreme, the plant dies from stress. To avoid this, it is necessary to redouble the care with nutrition. After flowering, increase the watering slightly and add a little earthworm humus or phosphorus-rich fertilizer (the “P” of the renowned NPK trio).
Last tip: take advantage of the loose buds to produce new seedlings. It's very easy, just fix a piece of them in moist soil.
Kiribilli offers great views at Sydney Harbour and is one of my favourite places to hang out, relax and to take photos. I first noticed the puddle reflection by accident on a walk along the waterfront in December 2017. I took a nice photo of Harbour Bridge and its reflection. Then, a couple of weeks later, already being back in Germany, I reviewed my photos and got the idea to merge several horizontal photos to create a panorama of the whole cityscape including the puddle reflection. With this in mind I came back to this place during my next stay in Sydney in May 2018 - everything was planned and well prepared - but unfortunately there was no puddle due to low tide. At least this was great to try the framing...but for the final photo I had to come back again. A few days later, equipped with a large bucket and a rope, I set up my tripod, filled the puddle and finally took the desired shots. Luckily this was the day before the start of Vivid Sydney - the view was great since the bridge was fully shining. The result is this merge of 5 vertical long exposure shots with my beloved EF 24mm 1.4 prime lens.
Nautical Twilight in the Atchafalaya Basin can offer some unique scenes to photograph. The Cypress sentinels of the swamps offer great silhouettes.....but a little Crescent Moon doesn't hurt either....
It was a prideful moment to introduce my friend Alfred (www.flickr.com/photos/alfredlockwood/) to this place.....as we were greeted with glorious skies. This was my take from the bow of my boat while he was clicking away at the stern.
I'm guessing he was smiling as much as I was......

The scoop in London offers many interesting compositions. In this photo, I included the Shard, tallest building in Europe. I have got a weak spot for glass buildings at night. I think they look awesome. On this particular night, there is a light drizzle. A wet surface affects how the colors and light shows. It is not wet enough for reflections, but enough to make the colors deeper and darker.

During courtship/bonding in the breeding season, male bee-eaters offer insect 'snacks' to females. Here on the branch are two males, left and middle (with the dragonfly) and the female to the right. Bothe sexes are alike with this species but females can often be separated from males by body size...but not always.
These migratory birds can be found as far north as Finland and as far south as South Africa, extending east into some Asiatic countries too. Most commonly, European Bee-eaters will breed and nest in southern Europe, then migrate south during autumn and winter.
European bee-eaters live for five to six years. The difficulties of migration and avoiding predators along the way affect every bird. Bee-eaters today also find it harder to find food, as there are fewer insects around as a result of pesticides.

This is a beautiful hummingbird captured on one of our trips to Costa Rica . Unfortunately we are in the process of moving and all my books are packed so I am not able to definitely I.D. This species of hummingbird !.. One I had not edited and going through the files is like taking the trip again. Such a wonderful escape to the beauty that Costa Rica offers !!

The Woodlands Waterway offers a quiet urban corridor where nature and modern architecture meet. The waterway provides a strong central leading line that draws the eye toward the distance. Glass-clad office towers rise on both sides, their cool blue façades reflecting softly in the still surface below. The reflections are nearly symmetrical, slightly softened by gentle ripples that add movement without breaking the tranquility. On the left, a curved pedestrian promenade lined with trees guides the viewer into the scene.

A strip of light with dark clouds. No filters and we were getting 30 second exposures half an hour before sunrise.
My third photo from the morning and for such a small stretch of beach it offered up a few different compositions.

I want to take a moment and celebrate all my Flickr contacts as well - I chose to photograph a section of my kitchen chair (above) as a symbol of the friendship I have with most of you. The strands represent all of you, coming together to form a single point of strength and every day providing me with support and most of all encouragement. As with the chair, every strand counts - from the most timid but consistent "fave" (you know who you are) to the most flamboyant award giver (you know who you are too!). Please know that all this support combined has helped to up my quality and has stirred my imagination to a degree I never thought possible. This picture, which I took on one of my trips to Vietnam, also fits into the series "Window in House Wall". Ho Chi Minh City - the former Saigon - offers a myriad of good such photo motifs. I love going on a photo tour in Ho Chi Minh City.
Pier 7, Embarcadero, SFO, offers the best view of Bay, Bay Bridge, Treasure Island and San Francisco Financial District on the other side.
A stroll here in the late evening is an awesome experience with dazzling lights all around! Its a long walk to the end of the Pier.

(EN) The curved basement gallery of Alicante's Provincial Palace offers one of the city's quieter art experiences — a circular space of polished marble, clerestory light and white walls that follow a gentle arc. Three large-format oils occupy the wall, their warm ochres and golds answering the warm tones of the stone floor.
The central work commands the room: a luminous depiction of a 1920s touring car rendered in broad, confident strokes, its golden coachwork glowing against a background of tropical vegetation and figures in period dress. The painting reads less as transport and more as theatre — movement, colour and Mediterranean light held in a single frame. Finally, the curved architecture quietly amplifies everything it contains.
