Captured in: Cape Elizabeth, ME

Seen here is an late afternoon capture of what is probably my favorite East Coast lighthouse -- the Portland Head Light.

This image was taken from the cliffs overlooking Portland Harbor in early September. The Portland light was constructed back in 1791, and is the oldest light in Maine.

Seen here is an early morning capture of one of my (new) favorite lighthouses -- the Portland Head Light. This image was taken from the cliffs overlooking Portland Harbor shortly after sunrise. The Portland light was constructed back in 1791, and is the oldest light in Maine.

This is the fifth in a series of images from my recent trip (w/ First Light Photography's Bill Rudock) to the New England coast.

Pelicans inhabit lakes, rivers, and seacoasts in many parts of the world. With some species reaching a length of 70 inches. Pelicans eat fish, which they catch by using the extensible throat pouch as a net. This brown pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis), captures fish by a spectacular plunge from the air, but other species swim in formation, driving small schools of fish into shallow water where they are scooped up by the birds.

This world-class beach is much less developed far less touristy than Ka’anapali Beach, however conditions can become dangerous during high surf with strong rip currents and powerful waves common. The beach is named for the man who introduced pineapple to West Maui; his legacy came to an end at the start of 2010 when the last commercial pineapple operations formally ceased in West Maui.

Situated at the bottom of a steep hill in front of the resort village of Oura, is one of Albufeira's best beaches in Portugal. A long sweep of golden sand backed by a promenade lined with cafes, bars and some nice restaurants the beach here is a little more laid back than those closer to Albufeira town.

Trinity Beach, north west coast of Maddalena island is definitely one of the most beautiful beaches of the island with crystal clear warm water for swimming and snorkelling, white soft sand, and beautiful scenery especially at sunset. I recommend this incredible place to everyone visiting stunning Sardinia.

Santa Bárbara is a parish in the municipality of Ribeira Grande in the Azores. This beach features a long stretch of sand marked by the sea that, in some areas, cuts out the sand in a way that it almost appears that there are two different beaches. Water conditions are also conducive to the practice of sports like surf and bodyboard.

The sand slowly disappears as the tide slowly comes in at the White Rock pier.

If you are travelling along Australia’s east coast, be sure to plan a stop in the coastal town of Bowen. North Queensland’s oldest town, Bowen is well known for two main reasons - it is the home of Bowen Mangoes (a popular variety of the mango fruit) and it was the main filming location for the famous movie Australia in 2008. Bowen is one of the only places on Australia’s east coast that you can walk straight of the shore into the water and explore the reef.

The Cardellino beach is located on the island of Maddalena, in the northern part of Sardinia. The beach has white soft sand composed of pebbles and boulders with a shallow bottom that slopes gently towards the shore. Depending from the time of day sea colours vary from beautiful shades of blue to green.

Makaluapuna Point, was created from one of the last lava flows on Maui. However, the lava is a little different from the rest of the lava on Maui, as it is much lighter, denser, and fine-grained.

* The Cinque Terre, meaning "Five Lands", is a coastal area within Liguria, in the northwest of Italy. It lies in the west of La Spezia Province, and comprises five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Cinque Terre area is a popular tourist destination. Over the centuries, people have built terraces on the rugged, steep landscape right up to the cliffs that overlook the Ligurian Sea. Paths, trains, and boats connect the villages as cars can only reach them with great difficulty from the outside via narrow and precarious mountain roads.

The Twelve Apostles is a collection of limestone stacks off the shore of Port Campbell National Park, by the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. Their proximity to one another has made the site a popular tourist attraction.

The Club Med Les Boucaniers Resort, set in an immense coconut grove in the heart of the Caribbean. Spend an amazing vacation while you enjoy a taste of paradise in the French West Indies. Club Med's all inclusive resort in Martinique combines a Creole spirit and sublime coastline in the scubadiver paradise of Baie du Marin.

Later in the afternoon the suns angle gave an amazing oceanside underwater view of this beautiful paradise in Sardinia.

Most beautiful Cay in Roatán Honduras - smaller, but still is the best location to swim, snorkeling or diving.

Cascais is a coastal resort town in Portugal, just west of Lisbon. It’s known for its sandy beaches and busy marina. The old town is home to the medieval Nossa Senhora da Luz Fort and the Citadel Palace, a former royal retreat. Nearby is the whitewashed Nossa Senhora da Assunção church, with glazed azulejo tiles. Paula Rego House of Stories shows the Portuguese artist’s paintings in a modern building.
