Ordnance Bench Mark
These Bench marks can be found all over the U.K. They’re often cut into stonework of buildings, churches, gate posts, bridges etc.
Back in the day they were used for measurements, for example the height above sea level in feet or lately in metres.
You can go into a public library and ask to see a corresponding Ordnance survey map; if you locate the Bench mark on the Ordnance survey map it’ll tell you the height above sea level.
Sea level is taken as zero at Newlyn in Cornwall… due to the earth’s curvature (sorry if you’re a flat earther!) it can’t be taken as the nearest sea.
Of course today it’s much easier to find the height above sea level just by using your mobile phone.
I found this Bench mark on the side of the Jolly Sailor pub in Waterfoot, Lancashire.

Perhaps the rarest car local to me now? It's been here for a long time now, no doubt a very useful car for the owner. I don't ever recall these being common, the advantages of having a 3 litre estate by a non premium brand by this point probably wouldn't have been appealing to many, so as such these are scarce now. This particular one will be 20 years old in a few weeks....
