I visited the Butterfly Place again today in Westford, Massachusetts. It's a medium-sized indoor butterfly sanctuary, with many varieties.

The reflection of the sky playing over the shallows and a submerged oak leaf.

A fallen autumn oak leaf on the scored bottom of a pink canoe.

The butterfly wings are shaped like a leaf when in the closed position. The veins are darkened and resemble the veins of a leaf. The resemblance to a dried leaf is extremely realistic and gives the genus its common name, viz Oakleaf or Dead Leaf. Amazing creature!
