View from the stunning Nærøyfjord, just outside the village of Gudvangen.

The ferries that`s sails on this fjord is 100% electric and can take approx 400 passengers. On this day, we were 12, so it was a day to relax and just enjoy the views.

And for those of you who like cartoons, I recommend Disney's Frozen, which drew inspiration from, among others, the Nærøyfjord and the Norwegian winter landscape in general.

..This is my entry to this week's MM theme "Translucent". This is a tiny mollusc shell about 1.5 cm in diameter.

#MacroMondays - Mon -Oct 12 2020 - Theme - #Translucent

Until yesterday afternoon , I had no concrete idea what I would be using for today's challenge. I tried a few things but was not happy. It was when I was spending some time in my backyard that I noticed this tiny mollusc shell lying in the mud. It was a broken and abandoned shell and looked very pretty with that mother of pearl kind of shine sitting there in the mud. That's when I thought of trying it out for today's challenge.

I have used a tiny table lamp for backlight.. I covered the lamp with a craft sheet and put the shell on the sheet to click this pic.

I can rarely pass this spot without photographing it. Sorry

A gently gliding ferry (not sure if 'Lustrafjord' written on front is its name) followed by its reflection in calmed waters of the narrow Næroyfjord looks very attractive. The Næroyfjord is a very narrow fjord formed as a side arm of one of the deepest fjords in the world, the Sognefjord. Taken from the cruise boat as a part of the Norway in a nutshell experience. “Epic” was the word that kept springing to mind as I looked at this scenery in Gudvangen, Norway, while waiting for the boat to take us on a cruise along the fjord.

This photo sums up Florida very well, a faded shortline locomotive, trash all over the right away and thick treed in areas. After servicing the Berry Global plant, 580 works back south and will eventually head to the CSX interchange. Due to the Hurricane that took out a lot of the Fort Meyers line, a lot of traffic was being diverted and handled through Sarasota during this time, and even now the tracks are not fully back in operation to Fort Meyers.

My language learning for today: The phrase "in a nutshell" describes something that is brief or to the point. Synonyms: briefly, concisely, succinctly. I have never used ths idiom before.

I have an on/off love affair with textures - at the moment it's definitely on.

We face the path of time

And yet I fight, and yet I fight

This battle all alone

No one to cry to

No place to call home

Lonely benches and silent playgrounds beneath smoke covered skies, out of season hurricanes to the south, Yellowstone is rumbling, murder hornets being sighted north of Seattle. Does anyone have a white flag?

...was nothing.

A little detail from a local forest captured with MOG Oreston 50mm F1.8 lens.

Rather than discard a broken nut shell, red squirrels seem to hold the two halves and use them to manoeuvre the kernel inside.

I recently watched the American Coots and their chicks for quite awhile at one of the local regional parks I frequent. I saw this particular behavior several times: parent coot grabs a chick by the back of the neck and roughs it up. I had no idea. There was more than one coot family - I wondered if the chicks got mixed up, etc. So, I researched a bit - I found one rather elaborate study that included this behavior and it was labeled "tousling". Evidently, the parents try to control the overeaters (or early hatchlings) so the others can catch up. (In a nutshell...) ... No wonder they grow up to be bullies.

Harburg is not the most beautiful district of Hamburg. It is the district where the castle was demolished to build a harbor. There is a lot of industry. Many buildings are outdated and the city planners did not always have a lucky hand. But slowly new life is emerging around the harbor.
