Fallow deer doe, taken yesterday in Golders Hill Park. My laptop is almost terminal so if I go missing for a couple of weeks you`ll know why!

An admirer of my cat Billie & a regular visitor. The feeling is not reciprocated.

Cloudy this morning, but not actually raining. Marnie and I saw this lovely old oak and I've painted it. Hope you like it !

My mother used to sing this 17th Century ballad when I was a child and I've remembered the start of it to this day. Here are the words to "The Oak and the Ash". There are lots of verses, but I'm sure you don't want to plough through them all. I can't find a sung version I like.

Here's one I don't like as I'm not keen on his voice !

Alfred Deller - The Oak and the Ash

'A North Country maid up to London had strayed,

Although with her nature it did not agree,

She wept and she cried and she bitterly sighed

Oh I wish once again in the north I could be.

Oh the oak and the ash and the bonnie ivy tree,

They flourish at home in my own country.'

Only 4 or 5 months until Spring is here and the trees will push forth new leaves. Let's all do the same!

Thank you as always for every view and comment. Every one is appreciated greatly.

The rocks I was standing on were slick and slippery. Right behind me was another drop off of about 7 feet. If I slipped and fell into the freezing water, I would've been in deep trouble... luckily none of that happened. Next year I'm bringing a buddy with me to this spot.

We pulled over at layby as we passed it about three days running so Jonathan finally got fed up of me saying "look at those lovely leaves on those trees" lol he took the hint eventually and pulled over and I grabbed them. Shame not to I thought......
