“There's no better place to find yourself than sitting by a waterfall and listening to it's music”

― Roland R Kemler

One of my favorite songs, the seductive, soothing sound of falling water. This particular small falls was wonderful music to my ears, and eyes.

Happy Friday! Welcome to May.

Food for the soul ... nature nourishes us. (at least it does me!) Was 96 degrees here in town yesterday. Went up atop the Grand Mesa last evening where it was 57 degrees when I took this shot. The breeze was gentle, saw three nice bucks, and restored my soul! Smile.

Thanks for stopping by.

i love going into my backyard garden after a rain. water drops and lush green are soothing to my spirit. there’s a graceful humility in this chive’s bowed head. a reminder of community and belonging.

we've had weeks of rainy, gray days. i'm trying to find the beauty. like how greens are vibrant. and how changing leaf colors appear more vivid against a dull sky. getting outside, regardless of the weather, makes me feel more alive.

Many thanks for your continious interest and support!

September is one of my favorite months of the year. The weather starts cooling off a bit without getting too cold, the flora gets more colorful while still staying full, and best of all, the crowds thin out considerably. Seeing the beach full of seagulls and empty of humans is a delight, especially when it’s been so crowded for months. I’ll take a day surrounded by nature over humans any time.

“Why do people have to be this lonely? What's the point of it all? Millions of people in this world, all of them yearning, looking to others to satisfy them, yet isolating themselves. Why? Was the earth put here just to nourish human loneliness?”

Flowers and plants are silent presences.

They nourish every sense except the ear.

A good relationship has a pattern like a dance ...the partners move confidently in the same pattern, intricate, swift and free, like a country dance of Mozart's ...

there is no place here for the possessive clutch, the clinging arm, the heavy hand; only the barest touch in passing.

Now arm in arm, now face to face, now back to back -- it does not matter which. Because they know they are partners moving to the same rhythm, creating a pattern together, and being invisibly nourished by it. -

Mar, sol, arena y cielo nutren nuestros sentidos

Nourished by some raindrops, this Azalea is preparing for more as we have a couple of storms headed our way. Happy Floral Friday!

When I sent my daughter and husband off for the day I saw the window light hitting this coiled wire sitting on the workbench. I loved the way it picked up the light and the shadows are built in. I spent some time playing and exploring the ways I could shoot this but settled on filling the frame. This is what I do with my time that I set aside for my creative pursuits, I practice seeing the interesting in the mundane and every now and again I succeed. If nothing else, I am slowing down and searching.

I saw this fantastic quote yesterday by Kurt Vonnegut and I am no longer going to apologize for my images, “To practice any art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow. So do it.” I will now consider it nourishing my soul and embrace the time and efforts in a less harsh way or at least I'll try. Who wants to join me?

our extended time in the west indies was a vitamin D bath. warmth and sunshine every day—good for the body and the soul. there were occasional rain showers in which wind stopped, song shifted from birds to frogs, and plants gave a happy sigh. we all need the nourishment of sun and rain, fire and water.

🌿 *Earth*

In rich soil and mossy green,

I find the pulse of roots unseen.

Amber dusk and cedar shade,

Whisper truths the stones have made.

🌊 *Sea*

In sapphire swells and teal embrace,

My spirit floats in liquid grace.

Pearl-tipped waves and silver foam,

Call me back to depths I’ve known.

🌌 *Sky*

In lavender dawn and cobalt flight,

My longing lifts with morning light.

A blush of rose, a storm’s gray sigh,

Each breath a prayer to open sky.

✨ *Together*

These colors feed my quiet flame,

A soul reborn, no need for name.

Where earth holds firm, and sea forgives,

And sky reminds me why I live.

I went out on a photoshoot with two Flickr friends last Friday, and it rained pretty well the entire time. But it didn't matter - good friends, lots of laughs, raincoats, cameras, and leaves turning colour in September made it all worthwhile.
