The weekend of the 28th and 29th Janaury 2023 once more sees a suspension of Greater Anglia rail services, this time between Bishops Stortford and Stansted Airport/Cambridge North, with replacement road transportation provided.

El verano pasado estuve en Notthingham en los "Polymer Play Days", organizados por Helen Cox, aparte de pasárnoslo genial la pequeña expedición española que asistimos, aprendimos cosas muy chulas, y para muestra un botón.
Estas cuentas en forma de volantes tan divinas los aprendimos en el workshop que dio Natalia García de Leáñiz (Tatana) que dejo el pabellón español bien alto junto con Daniel Torres.

The Robin Hood Line from Nottingham via Mansfield to Worksop was re-opened in 1998 after closure in 1964. The original station was dismantled and re-erected on the heritage Midland Railway at Butterley. The station yard was clearly a lot bigger than today, but the site remains undeveloped - as yet! Watch this space..

This was a surprise - a double deck on the Trans Peak service. High Peak 904 is leaving Stockport to head to Notthingham. I believe Centrebus are part owners of the High Peak business which explains the colours. It's a Scania N230 with East Lancs Olympus bodywork.

Siglo XV. Museu Nacional de Arte antiga de Lisboa,Portugal.
Fundado en 1884 como Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes y Arqueología, fue el primer gran museo público de Portugal dedicado a las artes. Sus vastas colecciones constituyen el más representativo conjunto portugués de patrimonio artístico desde la Edad Media hasta comienzos del siglo XIX, aunque incluyen también algunas importantes colecciones extranjeras.
El edificio elegido fue un antiguo palacio perteneciente a los Condes de Alvor, ubicado sobre la Rua das Janelas Verdes, llamada así por el color de las ventanas (janelas) del palacio. Ampliaciones realizadas en 1940 ocuparon un espacio contiguo donde se encontraba el Convento de Santo Alberto, del cual luego del terremoto de 1755 sólo pudo rescatarse la capilla, hoy integrada al recorrido del museo.
El museo dispone sus muestras en tres pisos. En la planta baja funciona una biblioteca y otros servicios, tales como tienda y restaurante.

ParalympicsGB is the name for the Great Britain and Northern Ireland Paralympic Team that competes at the summer and winter Paralympic Games. The Team is selected and managed by the British Paralympic Association, in conjunction with the national governing bodies, and is made up of the best sportsmen and women who compete in the 19 summer and 4 winter sports on the Paralympic Programme.

The image shows a 5 micrometre section through a rice root. The outer cells are arranged in concentric rings around a central cylinder of vascular tissues. These vascular tissues contain the water transporting tissues called xylem and phloem. The cell walls have been stained with toluidine blue and the phloem cells can be readily identified as they have remained unstained. We are trying to understand the molecular mechanisms controlling the numbers of vascular cells. By altering this, we hope to create new rice lines that use less water.

‘Đại học Notthingham xây dựng thành công hai cơ sở tại Trung Quốc và Malaysia cũng như bước đầu thiết lập quan hệ hợp tác với một số trường của Việt Nam, chúng tôi có thể chia sẻ nhiều kinh nghiệm với các đồng nghiệp Việt Nam và học hỏi nhiều điều từ phía các bạn.’
Coming to Hanoi for the Vietnam – UK Education Partnership Workshop (22 June), Helen Foster Head of Partnership Development, International Office, the University of Nottingham was invited to appear on the televised VTC10’s Sharing Vietnam talk show, broadcast in eight countries that include the United States, Japan, Korea, etc.
She said: ‘We are excited to have such a great opportunity to meet with a number of colleagues from different education institutions in Vietnam and to discuss issues related to transnational education partnership, a very promising yet challenging area of partnership.
‘As the University of Nottingham has successfully launched two campuses in China and Malaysia and initially built links with some Vietnamese institutions, I believe we have great lessons to share with you and learn much from your local perspectives.’
