This was taken this morning with my iPhone. Been here a few times but never did with a good weather. Today's effort finally paid off to have a glimpse of the beautiful sunrise at Notre-Dame. What do you think? Comments are welcomed!

Glowing and shinning in the night, the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral Paris.

There were some low clouds so all the light was being diffused and reflected so it was rather a challenge to control the light, but I believe it come out rather nice, this mixture of light glowing, reflections and projections, adding a mystique and grandeur of this great gothic icon.

Additionally it represents very well why Paris is called the city of light.

A joyous Christmas to you and yours! This is one of my favorite photos of the beautiful Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. As you can see, it was taken before the heartbreaking fire in 2019. I haven’t been back since due to the pandemic, but have a trip planned for next fall. My fingers are crossed….

My wife and I visited Paris last year. As expected, the fantastic Notre Dame Cathedral was on our list of attractions. We are glad that it as well as most of its treasures were saved from the furious flames of the fire. Paris just would not be the same without the Grand Dame. Hope it is returned to its glory very soon.

This is a view of the south facade of Notre Dame Cathedral, which contains the spectacular South Rose Window. This large round window is 43 feet in diameter (13 m), and still contains some of it's 13th Century stained glass.

Taken from a lovely flower-filled park across the Seine River from Notre Dame. The single red rose on the trellis is a warm salute to the Notre Dame's Rose Window.

I have walked around and sat inside Notre-Dame. It took my breath away. I had always wanted to see this great historical and religious building since I was a child. I had read Victor Hugo's "Notre-Dame de Paris" and was always fascinated with this magnificent cathedral and it's history. 800 years old. It seemed eternal.

If this tears my heart out I can't imagine how The French, who are so proud of their rich history, must be feeling. The Eiffel Tower might be the most immediately thought-of icon of the country, but Notre-Dame is the very heart and soul of France. My heart goes out to all who loved Notre-Dame and everything that it meant, to the French and to the world.

Strasbourg, Cathedral of Our Lady, built between the 13th and 15th centrury, has more than 2.5 million visitors per year.

The church was built with pink sandstone from the Vosges and shows a colour that changes depending on the time of day and the colour of the sky.

May it open again someday

One of the most beautiful landmarks in Paris. It seems that it takes on different moods as the light changes and as you view it from different vantages. Nothing more enjoyable that sitting on the river bank looking at one of the great cathedrals of the world.

Notre-Dame, is an historic Catholic cathedral of the Île de la Cité, Paris. The cathedral is widely considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. The naturalism of its sculptures and stained glass are in contrast with earlier Romanesque architecture.

Chimeras, guard demons, are mythical or grotesque figures, they were used to send a strong message to common people and also as elements that scared evil spirits away from the church.

Sunset at Seine River with Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris (2009)

The newly restored Notre Dame cathedral looks stunning in the Paris sunshine. The work done to bring this jewel back to its former self is outstanding. Following the fire in April 2019, which caused severe damage, destroying the spire and much of the wooden roof, the cathedral re-opened in December 2024, and is as popular as ever.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notre-Dame_de_Paris

“Notre-Dame de Paris, meaning "Our Lady of Paris", referred to simply as Notre-Dame, is a medieval Catholic cathedral on the Île de la Cité (an island in the River Seine), in the 4th arrondissement of Paris, France. The cathedral, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, is considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. Several attributes set it apart from the earlier Romanesque style, particularly its pioneering use of the rib vault and flying buttress, its enormous and colourful rose windows, and the naturalism and abundance of its sculptural decoration. Notre-Dame also stands out for its three pipe organs (one historic) and its immense church bells.”

Taken from the top of the Notre Dame cathedral, this picture is a slight variation to the famous composition with the gargoyle looking at the Eiffel Tower. Here the setting sun is included in between the two subjects placed at opposite corners. Since direct viewing of the sun (thus forever killing some rods and cones ) is involved in this activity, there was little dynamic range but profound light flare acquired in the final image. After tinkering here and there, I salvaged what I could. What is observed here is the outcome of months sitting and contemplating whether I should publish it or not.
