One of the local water lilies in bloom. I get fascinated by these plants every summer, and the numerous bees who cavort around in them. I'm not sure if bees cavort but if I was a bee I would definitely cavort in these lilies!

Fun Fact: Only white lilies (& tiger lilies) are scented, coloured varieties have no fragrance.

Did you know there is a plant that is so deadly if you sit under it for 10mins you will surely die? Yep, the water Lilly ;)

Misty hills from wind blown sea spray.

The ocean roared low in our ears.

Beautiful waves kept rolling on in.

A blowhole spat water over the road.

Well timed crossings were required.

I ran he walked not sure what that says.

Here in Diano Marina on the Italian Riviera, it is currently always around 100 percent humidity without it raining properly. If there is precipitation, then only briefly. The moisture on the ground evaporates immediately with this heat and forms a mysterious haze. The picture has largely come about through Midjourney.

I used several color optical filters.

Color processing with Lightroom.

A close friend of mine once told me that winter blooms make you forget that it is cold, and it is a thought that has always stuck with me ever since I heard her say it.

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 21st of July is "flowers in black and white", and I must confess that the saying written above that has remained in my consciousness ever since inspired me for today’s theme. It is the depths of winter where I live, so blooms of any kind, never mind sunny days, are few and far between. I could have taken one of the many flower photos I have taken in spring, summer or autumn and simply produced it in monochrome, but I decided instead to raid my craft box and be creative and forget the winter blues. In my box of craft goods I have a selection of paper flowers used for scrapbooking. Although you can’t see it in this photo, they are made with beautifully vibrant papers. I thought that produced in black and white, the image would bring out their layered and textural elements after I arranged them, and I think it has. Even more wonderful for me, in the arranging of them, I quite forgot that it is winter, cold, and overcast here, so my friend was right: winter blooms – even paper ones – really do make you forget that it is cold!

I hope you like my choice for the theme this week, and that it makes you smile!

..in some way or another.

Today was a lovely day, except for all the rain. A hurricane may be on it's way.

this is not to eat! I spotted it displayed inside the Asparagus Museum in Beelitz, Germany among many other tools, items, and all around the asparagus cultivation in this region, which is famous in Germany for the best quality and best tasty white asparagus! What a fortune that Berlin is not far away.. :)

Looking close on Friday! Yummy!! :))

The Pronghorn herd ran to put some distance between us after I walked into the field. Then they doubled back. Curiosity. They've done this many times in my presence, more so than deer or bison, other herd animals that - once they start - tend to keep running.

Morning light. Expansive views. Close encounters are always fun, and initially I was much, much closer, but sometimes showing wildlife in its habitat can work well, too.

I often see these animals while driving to the national park just down the road, and they always kick-start my outing nicely.

I can't help about the shape I'm in

I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you

I might not give the answer that you want me to

Oh, well

Now when I talked to God I knew he'll understand

He said, "Sit by me and I'll be your guiding hand

But don't ask me what I think of you

I might not give the answer that you want me to

Oh, well.

Oh! Poor Lucky! She doesn’t seem to understand as she mewls piteously after it, that birds generally don’t like to play with cats, and that usually when cats do play with birds, the bird ends up worse off for it. Never mind sweet Lucky, I think it’s time for something to eat, and I know that you never so say no to a decent meal. This is Lucky. She is a very demanding black cat, and she is always mewing for something… loudly! However, I love her so much that with a face like hers, I can refuse her nothing!

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 24th of May is "cats in black & white". Luckily, this includes felines of the non-real variety, as I have no real animal pets of my own, which is too long and painful a story to go into as to why. I have always loved black cats, and when the theme was announced, Lucky was my immediate thought. Lucky is the lucky Royal Doulton black cat with a white face. She was designed by Charles Noke and was issued between 1932 and 1975. My Lucky is from the pre-war 1932 – 1936 period looking at her green backstamp. I have photographed her against a piece of art paper featuring a print of birds either in a cage or flying free. I have opted for the latter, which I think works quite nicely, and adds a bit of interest to my storytelling shot. I hope that you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile!

Royal Doulton is an English ceramic manufacturing company dating from 1815. Operating originally in Vauxhall, London, later moving to Lambeth, in 1882 it opened a factory in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, in the centre of English pottery. From the start the backbone of the business was a wide range of utilitarian wares, mostly stonewares including storage jars, tankards and the like, and later extending to pipes for drains, lavatories and other bathroom ceramics. From 1853 to 1902 its wares were marked Doulton & Co., then from 1902, when a royal warrant was given, Royal Doulton. It always made some more decorative wares, initially still mostly stoneware, and from the 1860s the firm made considerable efforts to get a reputation for design, in which it was largely successful, as one of the first British makers of art pottery. Initially this was done through artistic stonewares made in Lambeth, but in 1882 the firm bought a Burslem factory, which was mainly intended for making bone china tablewares and decorative items. It was a latecomer in this market compared to firms such as Royal Crown Derby, Royal Worcester, Wedgwood, Spode and Mintons, but made a place for itself in the later 19th century. Today Royal Doulton mainly produces tableware and figurines, but also cookware, glassware, and other home accessories such as linens, curtains and lighting. Three of its brands were Royal Doulton, Royal Albert and (after a post-WWII merger) Mintons. Royal Doulton is one of the last great British bone china manufacturers still in existence.

Yep, we Finally saw some bears! LOL And such nice, cooperative ones too who held the pose for as long as we needed them too and didn't breath or move or anything!! . ;) Ha... who am I kidding? They were very realistic fake bears, the best that I've ever seen. On the other side of this giant tree there was one laying flat out along a branch. I said "Anita, there's a bear right there!" and we swung into this long, tree lined drive to see if we could capture it on our cameras. Turns out capturing them was no problem at all! LOL Have a wonderful, happy day everyone! :)

Now we just need some trick or treaters... Okay, so I couldn't help but play around in Photoshop and make a little Tad factory since I couldn't go more than 30 seconds on this exposure. Yeah I know, it's a little outside what lightpainters like to do, but doesn't Tad look great with all his little clone friends?

Visited the slightly bare poppy field yesterday. The clouds were gathering while we were there but luckily avoided a soaking!

I had already enhanced the clouds, decided to go the whole hog and add in lightening! Originally drew it in, looked crap so downloaded a shot from unsplash to overlay.

Someone (who could have been me - it's difficult to say) once stated that Daisy Week was done and complete. Someone was wrong. Very wrong. Mainly because I decided to up another daisy today, hence extending Daisy Week to eight days. Like all good weeks should be.
