This drongo is widespread in subsaharan Africa. From its prominent lookout, here in vegetation dusted by the salty silt of the Etosha Pan, it sallies out to catch insects in mid-air.

Dank einer Vormeldung aus dem Nürnberger Raum konnte dieses Bild am 3. August 2023 angefertigt werden. Allerdings war nicht klar, ob der Zug mit dieser wirklich sehr schönen Werbelokomotive via Ingolstadt oder Augsburg nach München fahren würde. Zusätzlich versprachen die aufziehenden Wolken eine gewisse Spannung bis zum Schluss. Einem weiteren Vormelder im Altmühltal sei Dank und so konnte die Zugdurchfahrt gespannt abgewartet werden. Schlißelich hatte ich großes Glück und der ÖBB Taurus 1116 182-7 konnte mit einem Kesselwagenzug fotografiert werden. Diese aufwändig gestaltete Werbelokomotive der ÖBB rückt das österreichische Bundesheer in den Fokus: während auf der einen Seite ein Fallschirmspringer zu sehen ist, weist die andere Seite einen Skifahrer im Dinste des Heeres aus. "Wir schützen Österreich" ist eine sehr schöne Lokomotive, nicht nur im Original, auch im Roco Modell.

Thanks to advance notification from the Nuremberg area, this picture was taken on 3rd August 3 2023. However, it was not clear whether the train with this beautiful advertising locomotive would get to Munich via Ingolstadt or Augsburg. In addition, the gathering clouds promised a certain tension until the end. Thanks to another trainspotter in the Altmühl Valley, I could eagerly await the train's passage. In the end I was very lucky and it was possible to photograph the ÖBB Taurus 1116 182-7 with a train of tank cars. This elaborately designed ÖBB advertising locomotive puts the Austrian army in focus: while a parachutist can be seen on one side, the other side shows a skier in the service of the army. "We protect Austria" is a very beautiful locomotive, not only in the original, but also in the Roco model.

Back in the day sometimes you would just get a surprise instead of a million notifications on social media....maybe I just needed more railroader friends haha. I caught this guy coming into Truckee and chased it up and down Donner.

HOWEVER the actual colour (with nothing to base it on) Resulted on an over brightened image. Now that I have seen what the moth looks like... This is AFTER a correction, and is much nearer the actual MOTH colouring of the specific moth. May still be slightly on the 'Red' side😮

"A statue removed from an Islington park more than 30 years ago has been officially reinstated. 'Upon Reflection' is a self-portrait of artist Kevin Atherton, first unveiled in the Philip Noel-Baker Peace Garden, in Elthorne Park, in 1985.

But the statue, which depicts the artist gazing at his reflection in a pond, was vandalised and eventually removed after less than two years. The plinth has remained empty since.
