ATLANTA, Aug. 2020 -- Operation Not Forgotten resulted in the rescue of 26 children, the safe location of 13 children and the arrest of nine criminal associates. The U.S. Marshals Service Missing Child Unit, in conjunction with the agency’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and Georgia state and local agencies, led a two-week operation in August in Atlanta and Macon, Georgia, to rescue endangered missing children.

Additionally, investigators cleared 26 arrest warrants and filed additional charges for alleged crimes related to sex trafficking, parental kidnapping, registered sex offender violations, drugs and weapons possession, and custodial interference.

The memorial is a black metal cylinder on a four stepped octagonal cement base, set on brick paving. On top of the cylinder is a clear plastic case containing an upturned rifle. A steel helmet sits on top of the rifle.

Max Harris, after whom the park is named, was a prisoner of war in Changi during World War Two.

This War Memorial erected in 1921 in memory of the Men & Women of the area who lost their lives in the Great War. The Memorial was rededicated in 1948 to also honor of the Men & Women from this Parish who died in their country's service, during the 1939-1945 World War.

ATLANTA, Aug. 2020 -- Operation Not Forgotten resulted in the rescue of 26 children, the safe location of 13 children and the arrest of nine criminal associates. The U.S. Marshals Service Missing Child Unit, in conjunction with the agency’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and Georgia state and local agencies, led a two-week operation in August in Atlanta and Macon, Georgia, to rescue endangered missing children.

Additionally, investigators cleared 26 arrest warrants and filed additional charges for alleged crimes related to sex trafficking, parental kidnapping, registered sex offender violations, drugs and weapons possession, and custodial interference.

This relatively new mission for the U.S. Marshals has seen two large scale operations recently and several smaller ones around the country. The future should see many similar operations throughout the United States as the Missing Child Unit ramps up operations using the man hunting skills, in which the Marshals specialize, to locate and rescue missing minors.

This small section of a panel in the Australian War Memorial's Roll of Honour commemorates those lost whilst serving with Australian railway units during World War I. Whilst many other (especially combat) units had multiple poppies inserted beside them, this one has a single paper flower added.

The Roll of Honour records and commemorates the names of Australia’s war dead. It takes the form of bronze panels in the Memorial’s Commemorative Area and a database, which is accessible via the Memorial’s website.

I've done some research on the database about the men listed above. They served with the following units:

1st, 2nd & 3rd Australian Light Railway Operating Companies

4th, 5th & 6th Australian Broad Gauge Railway Operating Companies

Australian Railways Operations Division

Railway Operating Section Details, Australian Railway Company, and

the Sapper Depot

Of the 65 listed, just 27 died before 11 November 1918 and 38 afterwards. Only 15 are listed as having died in combat or from wounds received.

Over half died of illness (influenza or pneumonia took 18, unspecified illnesses a further 15). Five died in accidents (both during and after the war) and one each died from cerebral syphilis, gallstones and heart disease. Nine did not have a listed cause of death (surprisingly, most of those are post-war deaths in Australia). One of the deaths of unspecified causes seems to have been of a soldier who never even went to war, having died in the Sapper Depot in Australia in 1917. The last two deaths were in January 1921, the last year in which the Australian War Memorial records World War I deaths.

The men's graves are all known. They are in Belgium (17), France (19), England (15), Scotland (1), Australia (12) and Sierra Leone (1). That last grave is of a soldier who died at sea, and Freetown was presumably the ship's next port of call.

The Roll is on the upper floor of the War Memorial, surrounding the Commemorative Courtyard. Here are inscribed in bronze the names of virtually every Australian who died in war since 1885 – more than 102,000 people. The largest single conflict in terms of casualties is World War I. Australia is one of the few nations able to name its war dead so completely. - From the Australian War Museum.
