I spent almost my entire evening at this computer, watching as much as I could of the election night coverage.
Not because I particularly care about politics, or that I strongly stand either way for a particular candidate, but because I care about what my future holds.
Tonight, I saw a good man get re-elected; one whom I do not believe will let America down in a second term. I saw my home state of Maryland, as well as three others like it, stand for marriage equality, and approve it by popular vote. And I saw the legalization of marijuana in two states, something that I never even considered was plausible in the near future. That's progress. And that's change.
I literally was able to watch history unfold; I feel like I don't get that privilege very often.
I'm pretty proud of my state, and even more so of the United States of America.

Our last couple of days in Japan were a little hilarious... ish. After our big celebratory feast the previous night with Mika's family, we had a quick sleep and woke up the next morning to begin our day of train riding to Narita.
We left Fukui City on the 9.30AM train, transferred to the Shinkansen at Maibara, and then crossed the entire JR Tokyo station to get on the Limited Express for Narita, arriving there at 3.30PM.
Not knowing which terminal we wanted to get off at, we got off at Terminal 2 and discovered that it was the incorrect Terminal. After getting back on the train and heading to Terminal 1, we found the Air Canada check-in area and tried unsuccessfully to print out our boarding passes. After failing we went to one of the baggage drop off clerks and after a couple of minutes of their searching in vain for our bookings, we discovered that we were actually on the NEXT DAYS flight from Tokyo to Vancouver.
Boy did I feel foolish.
So then we wandered around Narita for a while and started searching for a hotel for the night. After securing a room at the Toyoko Inn at Narita (note to selves: never again), we did some wandering around Narita before packing it in for the night.
The next day I spent the majority of the day on the observation area on the top of Terminal 1 taking photos of the constant stream of jets taking off while Mika did some shopping.
When we finally got to board our flight home, we were greated with this AWESOME sunset over Japan, and I definitely took at least 20 photos of it in all it's stages.
Then 10 hours to YVR, 2 hours of waiting in YVR, 2 hours home and sporadic and insufficient sleep ever since.
I'm definitely still on Tokyo time.
I had Warren take a picture of me outside, but I have a vague recollection of me not initiate this situation. I notice that when I take pictures, I always forget to include myself. Warren has to remind me, and here we are having our little session outside of the Tropicana. I kept not being able to take a good photo cause I just didn't care to smile and look nice. I wanted to do goofy things but Warren warned, "You're not going to like these! Just look at the camera and smile!!" So I did. Hmph!
Side story: I had a really great time in Vegas because 1) it was my first time there 2) I won $50! 3) I love an adventure. If you go to Vegas, and you don't want to spend a lot of money, just sign up for all the free play and player's club thingies, and also...play the Hot Hot Penny Slots!! They're the most fun slot machines around, play lots of music and flashing lights, and it's almost guaranteed that you'll win something or at least your money back. Have fun!
So this whole Vegas thing started on April 17th, the same day we decided to run errands and go to Bixby Gardens. That same night, we were invited to Mike Nielson's (of The Valley Arena) birthday "Pizza Party". We went to the apt it was at, and were all having a fun time playing drinking games and that drawing game we all love so much. At one point, Warren says, "Hey, who wants to go to Vegas?" Everyone was like, "I do!" "Ha ha! That would be fun" and then saying anecdotal stories about going. But Warren was serious. He offered to pay for a room that we could all sleep in, and we would all go that night and stay till Sunday morning. No one really said, "Sure" but I was down!! Me and Warren decided that since no one else really wanted to go, or believed that we would go, we went!!
We left at 11:15pm, right after we got home. Right before that, Warren, with his ultimate thrifting skills, found us a $50 hotel ON A FRIDAY NIGHT IN VEGAS NEAR THE STRIP. Go Warren!! We got to Vegas by 3:30am and checked into our hotel, The Hampton Inn Suites (which was incredible btw: great rooms, great service, a bar, pool, jacuzzi, little shop, and huge breakfast buffet!!).
Everyone there was great, and we couldn't check into our rooms till 3:00 pm so we had to kill 12 hours in Vegas! Yay! Here's some pics of the first part of the trip, and then when we freshened up after we got there.
Are you ready for adventure!!
I had watched couple movies at my friends palace and when driving to home I turned my head and saw this beautiful sunrise.
Photo was captured approximately 4.15 am with my lovely girlfriend's Nikon D300 and Nikkor 50mm 1.8 G.
Edited with Lightroom 5 and Photoshop Cs 6. Used photo stacking to increase resolution from 12 mpx to 48 mpx.
