Week 40 already!! It's amazing how fast time goes.
The photo this week is me peeling my veg for a rather yummy Sunday Roast I was making - the only problem was that after this picture was taken I realised i actually didn't have enough carrots :-( So peas to the rescue!!
The dinner was lovely though and I always really enjoy cooking a roast - I had meant to take an "after" but frankly I was so hungry I just ate it...

Pueblo, CO - It's difficult not to smile back at smiling people. It's almost a universal language. Like toasting a beer with a stranger who speaks a foreign language; it really doesn't matter if you can't understand him or if he thinks you have questionable taste in shoes, it's beer! Well, that's the way I feel about a smile. Yes, it's like beer but less expensive.

I've been learning to channel my feelings into my pictures.
So yes this is literally how i feel at the moment.
Not going to rant too much but let's just say i'm feeling pretty unwanted.

Local young and lovely--and very talented--cinematographer. She has the archetypal 'redhead look'. Taken with a Nikkor 70-300mm lens, late in the afternoon.
There is some nice moody lighting in our lift at work, it's just at the right height to catch my eye. I had to be quick as I did not want the embarrassment of getting caught taking pictures of myself in the lift!!
I first saw this girl working in a local pizza shop one evening I was in.
I was drawn to all the piercings and jewelery she was wearing on her face, so after a couple of visits I started talking to her about the piercings and asked if I could take a photo sometime.
Her name is Briony and it turned out she lived not far away, but before we would do a photo she wanted to remove the stretchers from her ears and sew the holes closed. (I didn't know it was even possible to do this). So in time once they'd healed, she came over.
Briony told me this was her first time doing any kind of photoshot and that she didn't really consider herself photogenic. I have to disagree with that. She's also starting a new college course this term doing make up and beauty. I reckon she'll do very well at it.
For me, the best thing about this strangers portrait is that someone who I didn't know to start with, is now a friend.

It wasn't just all vintage tractors, agricultural machinery and old men with mutton chop locks at the Ballyglass Vintage Day - I also spotted this beautiful lady with her lovely nose stud there!

Lighting: it's the end of November and this seems like ages ago now. The photo was taken half way down a narrow alleyway in the summer. The light was directly behind me and Maz (model) was looking along the alley towards it. Going halfway into the alley made the light softer, as it was less direct.
I'm going to be honest, I've been thinking a lot about being an actress lately. It's a crazy idea, absurd even, and there is such a slim chance of it actually happening yet it's been running through my mind so much. I'm not incredibly experienced in acting but I do, however, feel I am good at it. I love portraying ideas of other characters different from my own. Once you get right down to it its just pretending and it intrigues me so much to be able to 'pretend' and make a career out of it! I've had my mind set on being a photographer and don't know why this has even come up, but it has. I've been researching a lot and found out that most actors/actresses today started out in commercials and small tv shows and, eventually, worked their way up to the top. I will admit that I go through many phases on what I want to be and where I want to go with my life. Inevitably, those phases usually pass and I forget I even had them but I really want to give this one a go!
Just a crazy thought & idea!
There is a problem though, and that is the fact that I live in North Carolina. I know that there aren't many opportunities to peruse acting here besides community theatre and school plays.
