I love collecting Fostoria glass candlesticks and use them often. Throughout the house, they add beauty and light on any occasion - from a gathering of friends for dinner or to simply enjoying candlelight in the evening.
Some say the tradition of blue doors and windows, found in New Mexico comes from the Mediterranean. The meaning is varied from "hospitality and welcome" to "keeping out evil spirits". I drove by this window with yellow roses several times this week. I enjoyed the sight so much I decided to stop and take a photo.
My African Violets love our north facing window as much as we three do. My favourites have been the plants with fancy blooms but their blooms are so heavy they hang almost out of sight. There is a lot to be said for good posture ;)
Soft, glittery, fluttering wings,
Collecting pollen every day.
They flutter through the blue sky.
So pretty, so soft, so gentle,
Like art in the summer sky.
(poem written by my girl...portrait taken the night of the daddy-daughter dance. i finally upgraded to lightroom 3 and i'm in love. more in comments because i really can't decide. for some reason i'm drawn to the stoic expression on her face in the lead image.)
These north-facing windows lit up the inside of the industrial building, exactly as intended, while shielding the workers and (more importantly) the machinery from direct sunlight. These right triangles were covered in overlapping octagonal shingles.
Would you look at those boundaries between those bricks and those cinderblocks.

This warm up exercise for the photo silly class was to take photos of your lunch near a north facing window and eat some and take more photos. Then make a collage!
Lunch was homemade hummus, carrots, pepper and pear!
