What idiot says you can't have a human in a landscape shot?
Stood at the start of the path through Glen Etive
We were heading up to Glencoe when I spotted all the cloud around the mountains, when I asked for permission to throw the car into the next layby. I did this despite the crater sized potholes and immediately saw this bloke up on a bank. In a flash I was out the car, feet never touching the surface of the water which surrounded the car and firing shots from the hip in a spray from left to right to grab the pano before he had time to move. Sort of.
Anyway, a suggestion: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhidA1jEUjo

A look at the north face (backside) of Texas State Capitol in Austin. The capitol building was designed by Elijah E. Myers in Italian Renaissance Revival style, and was constructed between 1882 to 1888. At 308 ft. it is taller than the United States Capitol, and is the sixth tallest state capitol building in the United States. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

Mont Blanc group.
It is very unusual to have pure ice in a northface at this altitude at the end of May, where the snow cover is usually the thickest of the year.

The Eiger Trail passes across the famous "North Face". A stunning walking trail in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland.
We were, for most of the day, clouded or fogged over but occasionally it cleared for brief moments. It is hard to describe let alone capture on camera the imposing size or scale of the Eiger. Literally breath-taking.
We were nearly 3000 metres up ourselves lookng at the summit another kilometre above us! We really did feel so small.
In the Center of this photo there is my most wanted target for this year...
Mayerlpampe und upper Northwest-ridge of the Großglockner.
I had to waite more than 45 years for this route to the top of the highest Austrian peak.
The 50° to 70° icewall is called the best ice-route on this mountain. from there a very nice and steep mixed tour leads to the summit.
Snow gathered on the north face of all the trees during our last snow storm. I drove out to the country searching for just this shot. I was glad I found this, especially since the sun was getting so low. Worked out great!

Moonrise over Kleine Scheidegg at the foot of the legendary Eiger north face, seen from Mürren on the opposite side of the Lauterbrunnen-valley. The Eiger north face is the biggest north face of the alps, and one of the most difficult to climb. Unbeleivable that the speed record time for climbing (running?) the wall is 2 hours 22minutes!!!
Panorama of the Yosemite National Park viewed from Glacier Point. On the right you can see Vernal and Nevada falls which are nearly dry.
"...A simple slip would mean death."
Chilling fact: More than 290 have died on this mountain, and over 200 bodies remain entombed there.
Seen from the Tibet side just before sunset.

The mighty and dramatic North Face of the Eiger in the Swiss Alps. How I miss it.

I put the long lens on to see the Caribou in the valley near Spirit Lake and figured I'd see what there was to see. To me, this ridge line on Saint Helens is it's coolest aspect. It withstood the blasts and is scorched and melted yet still stands. Probably the most faceted face I've seen in person. This makes an excellent desktop background. :-)
This is as close to the famous (notorious) North Face of the Eiger as we got on the Eiger tral walk last September in the Bernese Oberland. The treacherous last 1000 metres starts up the cliff face in the right hand size of my shot all the way to the summit.
Repeatedly, fog came and went, the wind got up and then dropped, its rained and it stopped. We got occasional glimpses of the sheer scale of the Eiger and surrounding mountains and then the fog obscured the view again.
