So soz (right!), cos I'm way behind on my posting. Could not resist this shiny satiny burgundy blouse from @freshsoulclothing that matches way too well with this burgundy faux leather skirt from @sheikeandco.

But because I get slack, I'm about a week behind with pics to post. Something to look forward to, though, if you like this kind of thing...

Just had the year-end review with 2021. Poor timing, having it straight after the office party, so things got a bit messed up, as you can probably imagine...

The upshot was that 2021 won't be around much longer. They'd promised they'd do much better than 2020, and TBH, they failed.

I mean, bringing their mate Delta into the place, and then sneaking in Omicron in the last month just when we thought it was all fine. WTF were they thinking?

Their replacement starts in a couple of weeks, but frankly I have no confidence that they'll be any better.

from the LBD wearing (don't worry, they will return). Gorgeous number from @kookai_australia, who make the most amazing clothes, using the most fabulous fabrics.

As usual, a few more of this set over at Insta:

www.instagram.com/girlfriendisbetter2020/

...in very late news (more than 10 days old, I'm sorry) proposed anti-trans legislation by our clusterfuck of a federal government was defeated over a week back, when some of its own members turned against it.

Because we have a Prime Minister who specialises in performative god-bothering, he decided it would be a good wedge to be "inclusive" towards gay kids, but hang trans kids out to dry, as a sop to extreme religious organisations (and help to make a big deal of bathroom moral panicking).

The really lovely thing was that a number of leading Catholic schools (single sex and co-ed) came out to say there was no big deal, and they were happily managing MtF and FtM trans kids (even bathrooms, shock horror). And a Jewish school that said "meh, we've had gender-neutral bathrooms for years".

So, the government was humiliated (for now, anyway, though I'm sure they will not forget), and trans kids/people around the country felt a little more supported and accepted by a surprisingly wide cross-section of the population. Which is always a nice thing.

... being a blonde, though we do lighten up occasionally. Love this red dress from @tigermist

...little black dress!

I have sworn in the past that yet another LBD is the last thing I need.

Yet, here I am once again, showing off my latest purchase. From the fabulous range on offer every week from @uturnvintage. It's always such a lottery as to what I will come away with. Often dresses or skirts I would never think of getting. And yet, I find myself loving them.

This one actually is an @karen_millen dress, probably at a fraction of what the original price would have been.

And more from this session over on Insta. Check it out at:

www.instagram.com/girlfriendisbetter2020/

Kind of an office-y look. Silk blouse, black cardie, pencil skirt. All stuff I've had for years and years and years. Catchup from over a week ago, still plenty more to come.

I'm here from HR, and I'm not really here to help... I'm about to give an end-of-year review for 2021. It won't be good, I'm afraid. Probably a bit messy, actually...

But for now, tell me honestly. Is this enough of a power-dress to give someone some bad news?

Do I keep the scarf/waistcoat combo, or are they a style fail?

Today I'm super happy because here in Australia we've just thrown out a misogynistic, transphobic, climate-change denying, corrupt, dysfunctional and TBH, incompetent government.

The right wing Liberal/National Part Coalition government we've just de-elected was edging closer and closer to right-wing populism, with (former, haha) Prime Minister Scott Morrison happy to throw vulnerable trans kids under the bus (among other appalling acts) in an effort to try and get more votes.

Happily, it backfired terribly. A bunch of his party's members of parliament (all male, pale and stale) lost their seats to women independents, all smart, professional women, campaigning on policies of real action on climate change, equality, and a national anti-corruption watchdog with real teeth (believe me, it's needed!).

Transphobic comments and dogwhistling backfired horribly for them, which has been so so encouraging to see.

And our new Prime Minister, Antony Albanese, after first promising a First Nations voice to parliament (a critical step in coming to terms with Australia's toxic colonial past), also did a shout out to all the diverse people in his electorate (of which I am one).

What's the opposite of a dog-whistle. because that sure was one. Lots of people would have missed that shout out to diversity, but those of us outside the mainstream/binary, including #girlslikeus / #tgirlslikeus sure heard it loud and clear...

You ask me, this dress, on me, is tending towards the slightly ridiculous. Too short, too frilly maybe (it's got this fab tulle petticoat, so it flares).

But you know what, fuck it, I don't care. It's comfortable and I feel fab in it. Not that I would probably ever wear it out in public. Though you never know.

Dress, BTW, from @cueclothingco picked up from my fave secondhand clothing store @uturnvintage (those are their Insta tags, if you are interested)

...#secondhandisnotsecondbest! Fab leather dress I picked up a year or 2 back from @uturnvintage. Perfect for my rock chick look. Especially when teamed with my latest wig from @natures.hair.

I have to confess to a touch of competitive @cueclothingco showing off with another t-girl*. We are both huge fans of the brand, and to my delight, I found this dress that I bought god knows when from @uturnvintage. Even better, it's a size 10, and I managed to squeeze myself into it.

Playing around with my semi rockchick look.

Can you believe it, I picked up this fab red leather skirt secondand from @uturnvintage 3-4 years ago, and I still love it (though TBH, why wouldn't you?).

Though even better, when I took these photos, we had a government here in Australia that actively hated trans people, was prepared to bully and exclude them, all for the sake of a few votes from bigots.

Happily, Australian voters rejected that approach in huge numbers, and now "clever politics" has been caught out for what it is: populist rightwing dog-whistling. Of course, there's frantic ongoing pearl clutching from the broflakes of the Murdochian media. #schadenfreude

And now we have a government that is actively supportive of diversity in all its... diverseness. Which includes #tgirlslikeus.

Yay!

More close up boots pics, for those who like that sort of thing. Boots are from @onlymaker_shoes and they are fabulous. Huge range of sizes, so you don't have to crush your toes to put them on.

In order to celebrate Pride, and give something to the LGBT community (however small that something might be), I decided to create a series of abstract images featuring the colors of various LGBT pride flags.
