Porto’s evolving cityscape comes alive in this modernist building, where clean lines and pale turquoise tiles echo the city’s azulejo tradition in a contemporary key. Sharp concrete frames create a rhythm of vertical windows, their geometry softened by the colorful presence of Pride flags draped from the upper balconies—transgender, bisexual, nonbinary, and inclusive LGBTQ+ banners turning the facade into a canvas of visibility and solidarity. At street level, a café terrace anchors the scene with shaded umbrellas, while signs point toward Cedofeita and the law faculty, grounding the architecture in daily life. Here, architecture, identity, and community intersect powerfully.

Jeanette and me at Budapest Pride 2026
In 2025 at least 350,000 people marched in the “banned” 30th Budapest Pride March, the March of Freedom. The (now ex) PM Orbán and his authorities did everything they could to intimidate and discourage us, even threatening us with prison, but we did not back down. Their surveillance systems broadcasted live the unfolding of the largest human rights movement in Hungary since the regime change in 1989. In 2026 it was totally different. The Orbán regime suffered a crushing defeat in the election this April, and this year’s Budapest Pride was no longer a protest against the regime - which had turned dictatorial - but a celebration of liberation. It was also heartening to see that, for instance, the police officers were all kind and supportive of us.
The last few months have seems me take a considerable series of steps forward and put into the light. I now fully embrace my femininity, feel confident with my gender fluidity to the point where I nearly wear what I want when I want to. I’ve found the confidence to show the world my particular take on beauty and although it’s unconventional, I’m finding it inspires others. I’ve learned to love myself and not feel ashamed for doing so. I can highly recommend it
