NOMOS Glashütte is a German watchmaking company based in Glashütte, Saxony, which specializes in manual-winding and automatic mechanical watches. It was founded in January 1990, two months after the fall of the Berlin Wall, by Roland Schwertner. The designs for the first collection were drawn up by Susanne Günther, drawing influence from the Bauhaus purist style. NOMOS designs are known for their clean and modernist aesthetic. NOMOS Glashütte is a member of the Deutscher Werkbund, a predecessor of the Bauhaus movement and a group that represents the interests of companies that combine handcraft with industrial production, and design with functionality.

HMM to you all.
When you enter the old part of Charlestown (actually not that old by Cornish standards, just about 300 years) you find on your left, just outside the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre, this: a working replica of an ancient Greek trireme, that is, a ship especially built for warfare - just look at this massive ram (originally it would have been cast from heavy bronze). This ship has actually seen the sea and was used in naval battle - sort of, that is. This is the "Nomos", built for and used in the film "Clash of the Titans" (I and II, I am told). Charlestown is in fact supplying the television and film industry with old sailing ships or, as in this case, building replicas of ancient boats. A good idea, because Charlestown's original function as an export harbour for China clay has been over for quite a while.
Young Northern Mockingbird with a bug - it was shaking it up pretty good, I guess to get a better position for the big gulp, or maybe get rid of some of the grassy dried salad. I don't think I've ever seen one at this local park before, though I frequently visit.
“(Birdwatching) is basically a lifelong scavenger hunt played across the entire earth. It’s equal parts science and poetry, hoots of triumph and quiet reflection, adventures to far-flung corners of the world and discoveries in your own backyard.”

This Northern Mockingbird was seen "stealing" some nectar from the Aloe - it looked a little guilty ! Seen at the Los Angeles County Arboretum
For comparison with Lou's "Tropical NOMO", here is our California NOMO among its favorite Aloe blossoms at the Los Angeles County Arboretum !
NOMOs are my favorite songster. Sadly this NOMO decided it wasn't in the mood for songs. Still, it posed nicely for me at the Los Angeles County Arboretum. Hit "L" for a closer look !
Seen at the Los Angeles County Arboretum. Love to listen to this guy sing. The Northern Mockingbird is the State bird of Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas ! Not bad.
The one thing that makes NOMO stand out is how immersive the app is, each camera changes up the UI for good and bad. And in its stock form it is a limited application. There is also a limited number of purchasable cameras. The real fun is with the pro subscription model, which there was a free seven day trial, so I hit that up and ended up having a lot more fun.

This Northern Mockingbird fledgling was seen in the Desert Garden at the Huntington Library & Botanical Gardens - it must think it is a Cactus Wren LOL !
This image illustrates how birds create their own special "Orange Crowns" at the Desert Garden in the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA. As you can see the pollen-laden stamens create the "crowns" as the birds place their heads deep into the flowers.
These "crowns" are not limited to Northern Mockingbirds - as the subsequent images illustrate.
This Northern Mockingbird seemed very pale in color - almost gray. Even its eyes were a very weak color. I wondered whether this is a juvenile or just a normal color variation. I assume it is not a partially leucistic variety. Seen at the Arboretum opposite the Aloe Trail in the large meadow.
