☛ In a street of Centro Habana in Cuba. You can admire many interesting and colorful buildings dating from the late 18th century and the 19th century in the Centro Habana district. Many are worn by time and many are undergoing renovation. But the fact remains that they are fascinating and a visit is a must ... on foot, of course!

New head!! A little surreal as I've only ever had the one since I started on this crazy journey a couple years ago but am loving the upgrade to the new LeLutka EvoX noggin'.

Thanks Viv my beautiful friend, it only took me 4 months to finally settle on what I wanted ;) 💛💛

Trying out a new shape from Pr.etty. This is the Valeria shape. I got a bit taller. What I really love about this is the fuller lips, cuter nose, and more realistic breasts (no you can't see them). Paired the Bardot bikini bottoms (Pr.etty) with the chill top From Tetra. The hair is from Doux (Laura). Body by Maitreya (petite), noggin by LeLutka (Avalon)

#B-Food

Lucky me that the German word for pear is Birne [ˈbɪʁnə] ;-) With a capital B. While in many other European languages it starts with a "p". I was at a total loss as what to photograph for B-Food. Thought about sherbet candies ("Brause-Bonbon"), but wasn't sure if a candy counts as food. Well, certainly not in the sense of "You are what you eat", "Be Sugar", brrrrrr :-) Plus they looked dull as a macro. So basically this is another "One last try or skip" entry, taken last night, when I remembered that I had bought a few pears when I had learned that the new theme would be "B-Food". In German, "Birne" is also used as a colloquial term for (light) bulb, and noggin ;-)

Lit only by a small LED torch, processed in Luminar (foliage filter, details, Micro-Structure, faded matte filter), and ON1 Photo RAW (Local Adjustments, enhanced details on the blossom).

A Happy Macro Monday, everyone, have a healthy, and tasty week ahead!

Who left the tap on?

Who bumped up their bath?

Who’ll spot my noggin, while it goes bobbin’?

Who’ll turn off the tap?

While we were waiting for our evenings pick for supper to open the wife needed a little nap, she was still suffering from nasty noggin syndrome from the day before she did amazingly well through the day given the trauma she suffered and urged me to take a walk while she napped. Camera and tripod in hand off I wandered until I found a great location to capture the iconic Norman castle that dominates the skyline of Moliterno as luck would have it the lighting was exceptional and fast moving clouds made for interesting compositions.

At 847m Moliterno towers above the river valley of Agri where agriculture is still the main economic activity in the city of around 4500 though now closely followed by tourism as it is discovered by those outside of the region for its grace and beauty. The castle stands where a ancient Lombard watch tower once stood watch kind of swallowed up during the Norman construction of the castle sometime after the 10th century but the three story structure can still be seen in the courtyard of the current occupant.

While the town may have an impressive castle and boasts six small museums what it is truly known for since ancient times is its cheese, the Canestrato di Moliterno I.G.P. The Pecorino cheese is today made in the same way as over a millennia ago with the same quality ingredients 75% sheep milk and 25% goat milk aged in the exact methods from antiquity in the traditional "Fòndaci", underground or basement rooms exactly maintaining environmental conditions that give the cheese its characteristic flavor

I took this on Sept 26, 2018 with my D750 and Nikon 28-300mm f3.5-5.6 Lens at 62mm 0.5s f`16 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , and DXO

A flock of voracious predators gather around my pond !

I find it absolutely wonderful that my Dad bought orchids sometime in the 90's and neglected them so much they thrived. Their colours seem to change each year.

Came across this image from '19 while hunting for the Lightwing photos I will share shortly. I have invited my friend Tui to do a dawn or dusk shoot on the roundabout that has an amazing $900,000 steel sculpture on it. Watch this space I will share more soon.

Oh and I also have a booking to have a projection show in an old church in Palmerston North with my brother Sean who has been running them with his friend for a while now. I am super excited. But I need to get a strategy and I suspect a story line or a point to put across.

Suggestions welcome. Many thanks. I look forward to your help. Ha ha. I definitely need help. Although it must be said in the past I have been terrible at asking. I think this is something I should probably change.

Thanks for listening/reading what ever it is you are here with me and I say a big thanks and send you rays of sunny goodness to fill your noggin/soul with.

I heard yesterday that there are two types of confidence. One is the confidence you show others. The others your/my inner confidence. How much I believe in myself. How much I let others determine my next actions. Confidence in my ability to hold it together through what ever life throws.

It helped to put it like this made me see how important self talk is and that I should back myself more. Trust my intuition.

OK rant over. Thanks again. Big love coming out to all of you xx

I've been entirely fascinated with these guys since I was young but it was still quite a surprise to find this medium sized beauty on the floor in the kitchen.

============================================

8.12.2017 I've just submitted this photo to Paper Pirates in the hope that it will be exhibited on 15th Dec at Potocki Paterson.

Such a cool concept ... "You come along on the night and enjoy the photographs, free drinks, and the general vibe. At the end of the night, when the drinks are gone, you scramble to take the photographs you like off the wall to keep for free, forever".

Monday! It's dog day, and let me introduce Barry, the Siberian Husky I met some six years ago.

There are two breeds of dogs that I have an immediate reaction to: the Golden Retriever, a dog that seems to be a four-legged package of love, and the Siberian Husky, a dog that has something percolating in that brain, more likely a plot (look at Barry's eye!), and one that talks and talks and talks. As a visitor, I find the "talking" endearing. As an owner, I would have found it maddening. But Huskies are are extremely loyal...and expensive. Do you know how many rescues I can get for $3,500! And they don't even come pre-trained and bilingual. However, every week when you get done brushing a Husky, you can knit yourself another.

So, here is Barry. Take a close look. Inside that noggin, he's up to no good, but it all good natured chaos.

This charming House Finch fledgeling still has a bit of natal down on her/his noggin.

Farmer calls it maize, muntjac call it breakfast !

Each and every time I see one of these *@+^# birds…known to most as a Northern Mockingbird, I am flooded with an early memory of my youth.

While cutting grass in our front yard at around age 10, I approached a large bush just off the front right corner of our home. I had been by that bush a thousand times, but this time was different as I noted a bird exiting the bush at a high rate of speed. I continued to cut grass having no idea that it was a *@+^# bird and that it had circled back for the attack.

Without warning, or any warning granted was muffled but the sound of the mower, that cowardly *@+^# unloaded a lightning-fast double sucker-peck on the backside of my noggin, sending me to my knees.

I believe this was around the same time that I viewed my first horror movie, “The Birds.” The scene that Alfred Hitchcock planted in my brain forever is the discovery of a man in a house with his eyes pecked out…my earliest memory of truly being horrified by something on television. Seeing an early childhood crush (Suzanne Pleshette) laying dead on her homes front steps was a close second!

I do not believe that Mr. Hitchcock used mockingbirds to make his masterpiece. If I am correct, it was probably intentional as to not send little kids cutting grass in Indiana off the deep end!

Some fun facts found on the web about the making of “The Birds:”

According to male lead actor Rod Taylor, the seagulls were fed wheat mixed with whiskey to keep them on the set and prevent them from randomly flying away.

Hitchcock estimates that over 3,000 actual birds were used in making the film, although the studio also spent around $200,000 on mechanical birds.

In the birthday-party scene where the gulls suddenly attack and start popping balloons, crew members placed pins inside the gulls’ mouths and taped their beaks shut. One of the gulls flew away with its mouth still taped, but crew members were able to find it after hours of searching. If they hadn’t found the bird, it would have died.

According to Veronica Cartwright, who played Mitch Brenner’s younger sister Cathy, most of the birds you see gathered on the jungle gym and swing set in the infamous playground scene were not real. She says most were made out of paper or cloth, with only a few real birds mixed in.

During the harrowing scene where Tippi Hedren is attacked by seagulls in the attic—which took seven days to film and after which she spent a week in the hospital to recover—crew members set up a device inside her hairdo. It was a blood-filled tube that was designed to explode with blood and air once a fake gull swooped down and reached her head.

After makeup man Howard Smit applied the cosmetic “injuries” to Tippi Hedren’s face, she reportedly took a gander at herself in the mirror, said, “Pardon me, Howard,” exited her trailer, and vomited.

At the film’s London premiere, producers placed loudspeakers in the trees outside so that when audiences left, they were further terrorized by the sounds of screeching birds.

According to another article, Michael Bay is in the process of doing a remake of the 1963 classic. With AI and CG technologies, I’m sure it will be horrifying and include mockingbirds…just to send old guys cutting grass in Indiana off the deep end!

Has the largest flowers of the eleven native forget-me-nots, also the most "scorpion" like inflorescence as suggested by the Latin name .

A Sympetrum striolatum from a while back. This one was a recently emerged individual, it seems that the ommatidia of the compound eye are much more apparent in teneral individuals, I still wonder what Dragon vision would be like, that's not just the compound eyes, you would have to factor in the 3 ocelli as well. I reckon a real case of sensory overload.

One from what seems like an age ago up on Winnats Pass at Dawn. My favourite place to be in the Peaks.

I bagged a beauty minutes earlier, of some light rays beaming into the mouth of the Pass. I packed up happy and started back to the car, then I was struck by the way the foreground framed the tree beautifully and got my gear back out.

A beautiful morning of solitude to reset the old noggin.

Happy days.

As I clicked thru a few hundred shots in the archives this morning I came across this shot of a shark fin taken from the beach at Ft. Pickens, Florida. If it was just a fin, it probably would have stayed in the cold darkness that is my external hard drive and never seen the light of the world wide web. It is the water swooshing from the high-speed turn that caught my eye and made me laugh this morning and decide to share it. The sharks’ rapid movements were produced due to it and another shark seemingly dancing in some type of wooing ritual.

Years ago, the Mrs. and I ran into some friends that we had not seen in a few years…a chance encounter that made both of us realize just how much they were missed. As we stood and talked, as often happens, the ladies paired off and went on about our kids who grew up together. For some reason, the other male and I decided that aging was the topic for us. At one point he rubbed his balding head and said aloud “This is what happens when you make too many high-speed turns under the sheets!” I just about died laughing as I had never heard that saying before.

Since that day, any chance I get to use that saying concerning my thinning noggin, I insist on using it because it makes me laugh and instantaneously snaps the Mrs. face in my direction, giving me her “STOP IT” mom eyes!

Taken on 03 April, 2021

I succumbed to the charms of Bellisseria recently - but only after I realised there were waterways I could use! For this water baby this means long slow meditative paddles on my kayak, navigating estuarys on my beloved cabin cruiser the Ashlyn Lee (pictured behind me; you've seen her all white in the past but she recently had a respray, just explaining for Skippy before he gets here) and sitting on the back deck of my houseboat throwing a line in to catch and release to my little dead heart's content. Here I'm just waiting for the last rays of the sun to die out so I can have a summer evening's paddle - something I do often in the RL.

I'd been happy for years with one of the old school Japanese homes as my Linden slum/bolthole to outrun restarts but once I realised I was missing out I stalked the page until I managed to catch one on Noggin Light. This was at half three one morning when I woke up with a severe headache and decided to quickly check my phone while waiting to be able to think again. Who says nothing ever good came of a migraine?

Tufted Forget-me-not.

Myosotis laxa.

Flowers are much smaller than Field Forget-me-not.

Nothing to see here! She was cold so found a cozy spot. Completely entombed apart from her noggin. Didn't even stir to venture outside when I fed the birds. Did stir when treats were mentioned. Wilma's day has been more exciting than mine as she hasn't had to catch up on work. I did make some nice date and pecan scones though which brightened up the afternoon somewhat.

Upside down off the bed first thing in the morning is not necessarily recommended.

Balancing a giant yarn cake on one’s noggin is tough enough, but his head isn’t even hard on the outside, it’s quite squishy!

I spent few hours around the Salt Cellar like a Peak District groupie admiring one of its iconic locations, and in this space of time the weather changed from cloud to rain, to fog and a blizzard white out to clear blue skys to the conditions in the photograph here- luckily just about right for sunset. At one point Ralph and I where huddled in the rocks just in front of the cellar taking shelter from the snow.

I'm surprised I got any sharp images from the outing after leaving my hiking boots on the kitchen floor back home, I then found I'd left the tripod noggin there too, so had to hand hold.

All these things lead me to love photographing the outdoors, overcoming these small problems to see a great view in all conditions, nothing beats it.

Singing its noggin off on The Arches, at Carr Mill Dam, St.Hellens, Merseyside.

well its been an eternity since ive picked up my camera with any actual intent, until this morning.so i dragged myself out of bed after a few hours sleep and drove to buttermere in the lake district, uk. i had been to these falls around 3 years previously and came away with an image i am really fond of as it represents a change in the way i process my images. so going off the forecast i thought the inclement weather lately would play into my hands and would suit this composition better than the previous version of it i had already taken.although it was quite a pleasant sunrise, i didnt quite get what i wanted on scene, so a little bit of processing has come in handy and ive managed to bring to life what i had tucked away in the old noggin.

"A man may learn wisdom even from a foe." - Aristophanes

After a fairly lazy morning hanging around the house, Scott and I ventured to Mer Bleue to see if the rain was keeping the birds away.

Luckily for us, the birds weren't bothered and were out and congregating around an almost empty feeder.

As we drove up to the parking area we could hear the unmistakable call of the red-winged blackbird, back from wherever they winter and ready to haunt my Mom's nightmares.

So of course, I had to get a shot. There was no choice, it's a warning to her that they're back and she should watch her noggin!

Spring can't be too far off if these guys have arrived, their call is an unmistakable sign of spring!

Hope everyone has had a good day.

When your feet feel like they're made of stone and your bones are full of lead

Muscles feel like they're galvanized and there's concrete in your head

When your blood flows like molasses, you can't add two and two

The top looks like the bottom and orange looks like blue.

When you feel like you're hung over but you didn't drink last night

Your eyes look like a road map and your underwear feels tight

Gravity seems multiplied and your organs are on strike

You're in sudden death overtime and the wheels are off your bike

You need some chocolate, soft creamy chocolate

Some chocolate ice cream, and chocolate mousse

Some chocolate cheesecake, Bavarian chocolate

Bring on the chocolate, you need a boost.

They say it gives us pimples, it's addictive and it stains

It makes us fat and hyper, and clogs up all our veins

It puts migraines in our noggins and it's worse than cigarettes

But all those things are easier than having a chocolate fit.

Now there's lots of medical evidence to support our point of view

It's not all psychological, good news for me and you

It affects our seritonin, which reduces aches and pains

And does all kinds of cool things to the chemistry of our brains.

Good old chocolate, dark chewy chocolate

Nanaimo snack bars, chocolate eclairs

Hot chocolate sundae, sweet chocolate milkshake

Bring on the chocolate, we need a boost.

Now they say we're chocoholics and we have a legitimate beef

That we should lobby government to get funding for relief

Now if you can keep a secret, just leave it up to me.

I'll take the funds and build us a chocolate factory.

And if life should get too heavy and we decide to end it all

We won't do it with a pistol, drugs or alcohol

We'll just take a thousand dollars to a nice dessert caf鍼br> Eat a dump truck load of chocolate and do ourselves away.

Cause we love chocolate, mouth watering chocolate

Black forest cheesecake, and chocolate torte

Some chocolate rum balls, sweet chocolate windfalls,

Bring on the chocolate, we need a boost.

Bring on the chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, yeah.....we need a boost!

Jett will do anything for me, or at least try. When it comes to catching balls however, when he's done, he's done.

He's just not a ball dog. This is the first rejection. He just sits there and lets them bounce off his head or land in front of him. I've got more pictures of Jett ignoring incoming balls than I do of him catching them.

Looks Better on Black

1. She begs for baths, and immediately searches for any bath toy she can grab.

2. She calls Ritz crackers "brown cookies".

3. She is an actress, she knows every word on the Noggin/Nick Jr. channel even when they mention a website, lol.

4. Asia only sits still when I do her hair in minnie mouse ears, other then that it's a fight.

5. The mirror is her buddy, she cries to it, talks to it, dances to it......so basically she talks to herself.

6. SHE MUST HAVE 2 OF EVERYTHING. Cookies to eat, hangers to play with, crayons to color with, toys to talk to...it goes on & on & on.

7. She hates bubblegum bubbles, loud unrecognizable noises, and lobsters in a tank, lol.

8. She must have WATER to DRINK everyday, now that I don't mind at all thanks to daddy we are all water lovers now.

Gratitude :: for the little things that make her , HER!
