Anti-Fracking protest at the gates of the Third Energy site at Kirby Misperton, North Yorkshire. Together local residents and their supporters protested by the roadside as police looked on.
Protest against fracking at the Preston New Road site operated by Cuadrilla near Blackpool. The protest was well supported, with visiting campaigners from Northern Ireland, Manchester, Trade Unions and the Quakers. Even heavy rain didn't dampen enthusiasm or commitment.

A study by the Environment Agency says the controversial mining technique could result in chemicals damaging the environment.
Other risks include earthquakes leading to contamination of water sources, property damage and the release of dangerous gases.
The dangers are spelled out in an impact assessment drawn up for ministers by the Environment Agency.

On Wednesday, 6 August 2014 sent , once these were on every tenth car In town, from around 2002-2006 , recent NZ history .
This word 'Corngate' had a great significance in the GE free or non-gmo food debate in NZ in 2003, the year before Flickr began.
In the recent past NZ had a couple of sneaky attempts to cross our 'zero tolerance' GE / GMO food barrier under a previous 'environment' minister Marion Hobbs .This resulted in a so called 'Corngate' scandal several months later for the former NZ Labour govt under PM Helen Clark . This actually became a election issue and took some five hours to 'spin-doctor' something in 2002 here, to satisfy the public and media. The NZ biosecurity authorities seemed to want to slip in a small percentage of gmo corn or maize via 'Syngenta', in this case rather than 'Monsanto'.
The furore meant the ousted Labour-led govt 1999-2008 had to admit the official policy was still zero percent tolerance for GMO corn seed plantings .This Monsanto-like 'stealth' approach has been common around the world so the pro gmo lobby could try to argue "the horse has already bolted" around GE or gmo contamination.
Public vigilance is still required twelve years on. The book about this here (perhaps too technical for many to understand though at he time) was called the "Seeds of Distrust " by Nicky Hager a well known NZ investigative journalist and environment campaigner.

Five years ago the National government that included Peter Dunn showed their anti- environmental colour by stripping NZ Greenpeace of their long held charity status .They did not agree with their political or activist actions and now after five year supreme court battle it seems they were wrong to attack various charities.To be seen as 'for peace or disarmament' was also attacked .Greenpeace were one one the main sponsors of the 'GEFreeNZ' sticker and also the name of a separate voluntary group. The turnaround will help other advocacy groups.

Bank of the West is a subsidiary of BNP Paribas which is the French banking sector’s top financier of the coal industry. It is also one of the corporate sponsors of the United Nations climate summit (COP21) in Paris.
In the lead up to COP21 and beyond, actions are planned around the globe that call out the pressing need for people and communities EVERYWHERE to challenge the systems that are changing the climate and exist through oppression. To depend on the United Nations process would likely be a tragic mistake.

As part of its "gas led recovery" out of the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government have opened up an area around the Twelve Apostles and Port Campbell in Victoria to offshore gas drilling.
Extinction Rebellion and the Red Rebels staged an action at the Twelve Apostles and Port Campbell in protest against gas drilling.

Cloverdale's a tiny town that's nearly surrounded by lakes--Cloverdale and Long Lakes can be seen from where I took this photo; Guernsey Lake's nearby, a lake called Number 21 (must be a section number) is just over the hill, and Wall and Wilkinson Lakes are just down the way. Dozens of large and small bodies of water are within a five mile radius.
Somehow this little hamlet grew a pair of brick houses that could fit comfortably in a crowded city block. They were visibly aging when I first noticed them, and one eventually deteriorated and was knocked down. This one still stands.
I call this place the Painted Pony because for a time it housed a shop--probably an antique store--with that name. The building was restored at the same time its neighbor was removed, and is now a very attractive home that overlooks the park (mostly a boat launch) on Cloverdale Lake.
