More streetlife, urban poetry, innercity blues : Traces of places
Early morning cable cars ascend Nob Hill to begin the day.
This was a re-shoot of a 2014 image, ordered by a client, using a longer lens and bigger sensor to get more detail.
Thanks, Bradley B for persuading all those cars not to hit us!
Lens is the D FA 150-450 on the K-3II. Mono conversion using Nik Silver Efex.
Thanks for looking!
Thank you Jo for the wonderful testimonial! www.flickr.com/photos/kassel1/
Not so sure about this one but I'm bored fiddling with it so to Flickr it goes :-)

Nob Hill, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. December 2021.
Probably my best shot of the series.
While you are here, you may take a look at my full Albuquerque 2021 photo walk in this album.
Nob Hill is in Albuquerque, New Mexico near the University Of New Mexico is. Activity has been quite outgoing this Summer season especially for the man who blows his whistle constantly in order for people to notice the ad for food.
This morning, I got up way-too-early to take a shot of the rising crescent moon through the one of the towers of the Golden Gate. Well, turns out that conditions in the Headlands were pretty poor for that kinda thing; the wind was gusting and it was colder than Moses. So, I descended the hill to Fort Baker, where it was a little bit calmer, and stole a few shots of the moon rising over the city.
Here's some particulars of this exposure:
Canon 5D, f/5, 1.6sec, 600mm, ISO1600.
San Francisco, California.
I took this on the way to the writer's conference. Not a neighborhood I spend much time in. Congested. No parking...
Here's another mono shot, this morning playing in traffic near nob hill. This could well be the only HANDHELD shot in my entire photostream. I pretty much always have the camera mounted to my tripod, but the circumstances here required being out in the middle of a busy intersection...so handheld it was. I spied this shot a couple years before, and didn't have the glass for it then.
It was a fun time and I ended up meeting with two different friends, at different times, strangely enough. Thanks guys, for the company. Lens is the tiny but powerful F*300/4.5 on the Pentax K5. Nik silver efex and some random burning here and there. I hope you like it!
Morsum, 16-04-16
Inspired by a summer backlit shot i have seen before it was my try to give this a go. The spot is a little tricky, because you have to beware of traffic in the middle of the street. The safe way is going when you're allowed to walk. This lasts no more than 20 seconds if i recall correctly. So sometimes i tried to divert traffic a little to get some more time. Not every driver was happy with that though.
While it is not as great as the summer version when the sunlight is much more attractive, i did like how it turned out that morning given the circumstances.
Hope you enjoy.
