Sunsets are amazing because they can change the way we see the world.

As I have mentioned in prior posts, the New Jersey Meadows or Meadowlands which at one point was an area loaded with white cedar, which was utilized to build burgeoning metropolis New York City across the North River or Hudson as it is called today. After the early white settlers had ravaged all the lumber, the remnants of cedar were overtaken by pervasive phragmites which include as they are often referred to cattails. A natural estuary of brackish water that is a stop for thousands of migratory birds right outside of New York City. After the efforts of the local citizens, the Feds, the EPA and the state to clean up what had essentially become a dumping ground, it is an amazing story of reversal of 100 years of the Industrial Revolution’s pollution of the Passaic and Hackensack Rivers that feed the estuary. I saw such a change over the two decades I resided there, often riding my bicycle through the nature center that bordered my old office. A mini-lockdown project. Here I took 20 pictures of last night's full moon (A65 with 500mm AF Reflex F8) and processed them in Registax 6. I may have overegged it as the picture looks a little too crisp with artefacts in darker areas. There's a useful overview of the software and the technique at njspots.com/2019/09/11/stacking-photos-tutorial-capturing.... So far I have very little idea what the individual sliders do, but is interesting to see detail extracted from a fuzzier set of source photos.
