Warning barriers above a hydro-power dam in Niskayuna, NY. This is also Lock 7 of the Erie Canal. I went to bed the night before and noticed it was particularly humid, so I figured it would be foggy the next morning. I got up early and drove over. Sure enough, the fog was quite thick and I got this shot.
As I was standing on the pier I could hear a low grunting cackle. In the far end of the photo, perched on barrier there is a blue Herron. The fog muffled the sounds a bit, giving the Herron and the large waterfall a somewhat muted, ever-so-slightly off sound.
Standing there felt like a living dream.

Built for the Troy and Schenectady Railroad around 1862 to cross the original alignment of Balltown Road in Niskayuna near the Mohawk River. It was replaced by a newer underpass in 1910 when Balltown Road was rerouted, and today carries Mohawk-Hudson Bike Hike Trail traffic. Niskayuna, New York.
In use as a railroad station from the mid-1800s till 1964, then converted into a single family dwelling, now part of the Mohawk Hudson Bike/Hike Trail. Niskayuna, New York.
