On World AIDS Day, December 1, 2019, the Aidsfonds placed this pink statue which showed a crying woman who shed a tear every forty seconds. That tear symbolizes the fact that every forty seconds someone in the world dies of AIDS.
The statue has been there since December 1. The intention was that the Aidsfonds would move the statue tomorrow to Amersfoort, where it would also stand for a few days. After that it would be seen in various other places in the Netherlands. The intension, because a few hours after I took this picture of this statue it was destroyed by unknown vandals. A sad moment for the Aidsfonds and a sad moment for everyone.
Not only the statue was crying, all of Amsterdam should cry now! :-(
