With the nights getting longer again and spirits falling with many new lockdowns in various countries I thought this picture of a magical night in the Lofoten Islands may lift the mood.

When I was at the Drei Zinnen, I stayed there until it got dark. I wanted to photograph the Drei Zinnen Hütte at night. So I had to walk back the 6 kilometers to the parking lot alone in the dark. It was a bit scary but I survived. Here is the result.

During the second night of our frequent Northern Lights sightings for some short moments we witnessed this strangest of all Northern Lights displays: an almost perfect horizontal layer like defined with a celestial ruler. It didn't last long, hence I am very happy that I could capture it.
This is a photo I took in Trin, on the rooftop of our hotel back in 2022. I layered multiple exposures in post on top of each other to get a bit of a cleaner image.
Overall I was happy how this shot of the Moon turned out...just would have liked it to be on the actual Full Moon day
I was happy with the settings and the clarity of this capture :)
The Milky Way over the East of Belgium.
This very composition had been on my list for almost 4 years. But there's multiple variables that need to be just right (time of year, no moon, clear sky, good transparancy,...) and one or multiple were always missing. Those of you who are familiar with Belgium can probably guess which one presented the most issues (clear skies).
Add in the fact that there was a gap of almost a year where I wasn't able to access the area (Covid restrictions), and it all adds up.
In any case, finally bagged the shot and pretty happy with it.
Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forrest. At dusk when i thought the clouds were going to negate my Milky Way once again this year. They lifted after dark thank god. What a place!, there is nothing like the Patriarch Grove. Not on this earth anyways!
“The starry night opens its gates to other universes and unseen creatures appear. People may call them demons and fear in their ignorance. But these are only the creations of the stars that bring light in the dark. They have always been and will be. Even when the humanity will disappear”.
I love it when we get away and can see the sky at night without any distracting light. We just spent a month away, part of it in Fiji. I will try not to post too many shots. hahaha!
Milky Way in Namibia, the best night sky of the world...

Some light aurora and lots of stars there over Nova Scotia in Cape Breton. Andromeda Galaxy was very bright in the sky as well as the large section of the Milky Way. Couple satellites as well as a short meteor can be seen.
One of my first attempt shooting this fabulous galaxy.
This was shot with a 30mm lens in a light polluted city and obviously heavily cropped. Unfortunately my focus was off but nevertheless this is a huge improvement compared to my first shots.
