Unique statue d'un monarque des Savoie érigée à Nice, elle représente Charles-Félix de Sardaigne en tenue du XVIe si. le doigt pointé vers le port. A ses pieds se trouve un aigle arborant sur sa poitrine une croix de Savoie. Elle fût erigée grâce à une souscription des armateurs et négociants pour le remercier d'avoir confirmé le statut de port-franc de Nice. Un doigt fut amputé lors de violentes émeutes de 1851 dûes à la perte par la ville de ce statut
Unique statue representing a member of the Savoy dynasty in Nice, it shows Charles-Felix king of Sardinia in a 16 th century suit pointing to the harbour. Near his feet stands an eagle symbol of the city, wearing the savoy cross on his chest. The statue has been erected thanks to a subscription implemented by the city shipowners and traders, to thank the monarch in return of his support upon the city free port status. The statue has lost one of its fingers during the 1851 riots surrounding the loss by the city of its particular economical status
