Nezara viridula - Final instar nymph. Do love their colouration!

Chalais - Charente - France (Sept 15)

the one in the front is a final instar nymph and the one in the back a mid instar nymph. Our garden and maybe the whole town is most of the year full of cute nezara viridulas.

Thanks Rockwolf for the correction.

Nezara viridula nymph (final instar) on althaea fruit. The thing that looks like an additional leg under the head is called rostrum. They use it to poke things and to drink.

Food is all around.

Autumn is upon us, and Tansy, Tanacetum vulgare, is already showing signs of the end of the year. Soon the bright yellow will give way to this ochre. Honeybees won't visit anymore, but here's a Congregation of Southern Green Shield Bug, Nezara viridula.

They're not Green because that color graces the adults. These black bugs with white, yellowish and orange spots are the third instar form. They'll grow a bit more and then go into hibernation. Spring will bring forth their True Reproductive Greenness, and the cycle will start anew.

look with attention at this impressive insect and you can see a predator' drawing.

Defense's stategy.

the nature is queen and creative !!

Sorry for my approximate english, hope you enjoy this picture.

Thank's in advance for all yours likes or text if you a^ppreciate this one !!!!

So after finding the adult on the Wednesday, I went on to find some nymphs in different locations on the Thursday & Friday!

This is my 3rd year recording in Kent, and I can't believe I've not found them before now! Wondering if the hot summer helped them spread a bit more?! Such stunning nymphs!!

Main shot taken near Mereworth and the one in comments was at Teston Bridge CP, Kent

They eat like two cats that don't like each others.

Wednesday last week was a wet day, and after spending some time in the field, I gave up, as as most bugs were hiding!

Later in the afternoon, it stopped raining, so I went to a local park, where I'd been last year, as I'd failed to find the Box bug there, and thought I'd try again (found it in the car park this time!!).

Anyway, as I wandered around the park, I saw a green shieldbug on the blackberries. Having recording Palomena prasina from the area before, I very nearly ignored it..... but then thought, what the heck!

As I approached it for a photo, my eyes focused on 3 tiny white dots on the pronotum (as can be seen below)!!

Nezara viridula!! My first British one! I was just a bit happy!!
