'Last Sun' and 'First Light' is a series of photos taken on Dec. 31, 2022 and Jan. 1st, 2023.
On both days, I used a fixed camera setting to take the photos, resulting sometimes in over- or underexposure.
It is interesting how the fixed settings (aperture, exposure time and iso) reflect the mood, lightness or dimness of the respective days.
'Last Sun' was taken with a 35mm lens, iso 100, f.8 and 1/60.
'First Light' was taken with a 70-200mm lens, iso 160 (400 for the darkest shades), f.4 and 1/200.
No cropping (3x2) except occasional 4x3.

All the good stuff can't just disappear, we want them for a reason, so why not try to make a change this year
And if you by the way think, in the middle of the year, that you would make a change in your life, well then do it.
Postponing it is just another way of saying to yourself that you won't do it...
Aren't we lucky that get new blank sheets every January 1st (which happens to be my birthday!), change is good for you - we need to be in the flow!

One Chase Manhattan Plaza Building — Chase Bank's former headquarters lately renamed "28 Liberty Street" to tie it to the street and to make life easier for postal workers.
Sculpture "Group of Four Trees" by French artist Jean Dubuffet. 1970.
In 1969, David Rockefeller, then chairman of Chase Manhattan Bank, asked Jean Dubuffet to design models for a possible sculpture to be placed in front of the bank’s new building. Already, the building’s plaza included Isamu Noguchi’s Sunken Garden, completed in 1964, and the bank’s leaders wanted to add another sculpture as well.
Dubuffet submitted a number of models, of which Group of Four Trees was chosen. He then enlarged the piece for placement in the plaza. The sculpture is made of synthetic plastic over an aluminum frame, with a steel armature holding the whole piece together.

The Oculus was positioned as part of the World Trade Center masterplan by Daniel Libeskind and designed by Santiago Calatrava. The structure’s white metal-clad steel ribs reach up and out in a monumental move symbolic of a hand releasing a dove.
The structure's orientation serves as a lasting reminder of the attacks of September 11, 2001. It is in alignment with the sun’s solar angles on each September 11, from 8:46 am, when the first plane struck, until 10:28 am, when the second tower collapsed. Its central skylight fits this alignment and washes the Oculus floor with a beam of light.

Happy New Year 2023!
When we named Tiny Tim we had no idea what would happen this year. It also happened at Christmas time, which is uncanny. Timmy became lame this summer, and we first thought it was just a pulled muscle. We later found out that something was causing severe bone degeneration. It could be cancer, or some infection. He was in severe pain. After treatment we were unable to save his little leg, but we saved his tiny life. Just before Christmas he became a "Tripod". He is amazing! He's healing very well; and he plays and runs pain free now. We tell him he gained new super powers, and we call him "Super Timmy!"
We are hoping for a calmer New year in 2023, every time I say that though, something happens. We lost five of our babies this year, and Timmy was a traumatic event for us. But we are coming out of it, looking positively toward a great new year! Happy 2023!

This is one of the scenarios happening when, occurring from the urban night scene, you will possibly find a candid atmosphere moment even, and best of all, when the weather starts to change. I took this shot when I realized that it could be another best opportunity to capture the scenery that my heart desired for it to look like and I simply did just that...!!! Furthermore, I was merely just experimenting with the aftermath results where it would simply suit my taste
(when I was on my way home).

Well, the 'spare' Christmas pudding's been put to good user on New Year's Eve! If you've ever tried photographing a flaming pudding, you'll know how that it's essentially impossible to get the exposure right for both the flames and the rest of the table at the same time. This shot is a digital combination of three exposures for the environment, with a not-on-fire pudding and 2 exposed for the flaming pudding itself, then combined using Affinity Photo by blending masks using the pressure-sensitive Apple Pencil and very low flow on the brush. This gives an incredible amount of control that's just not possible any other way. The original World Trade Center (WTC) was a large complex of seven buildings in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan in New York City. It was destroyed in 2001 during the September 11 attacks. The shape of the building symbolizes one of the fallen Twin Towers.

My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.
He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my small family.
Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.
