And this is the most we saw of it. Sophie's ENTIRE school (about 350 kids) were bussed down to the downtown park for torch celebrations. Amongst many other people we all listened to the mayor say that the torch was going to come down by the amphitheatre and what a great, once in a lifetime event it was.
Well we listened to local entertainment and then heard/saw the torch entourage up on the road above. Here it comes says the mayor. And then - newsflash - the torch is NOT coming down by the theater, go up to the road now but DON'T run.
Yeah that went well. A sea of people and kids rush up to the road and this was the most we saw. Teachers were madly trying to gather their kids. I had Sophie perched up on one shoulder and tried to grab a picture. The kids had been so pumped up about it. There were tears from lots of kids.
The day wasn't a complete wash though. The sun was out and the kids played in the park and listened to live music.
