Still catching monsoonal action in the middle of October. This was an awesome storm, competing for the best of the 2022 season. Ladron Peak in the background. Los Lunas, New Mexico USA
The Manzano Mountains are masked by a heavy rain with a rainbow from the east mesa in Tome-Adelino, New Mexico USA.
My first rainbow/lightning capture of the season.
This was my prize for a lightning chase that was a bust. It turned out to be an evening of many rainbows, including this beautiful and brilliant short stack over the Manzano Mountains. It was so dreamy with the pouring rain in the background yet interfering with the sharpness of the lines. Los Lunas, New Mexico USA

Just after posting my last picture and complaining about the rarity of ground strikes this season, I was rewarded with a nice evening of storms with 360 lightning. Los Lunas, New Mexico USA

Despite a very successful blue hour shoot, I decided to go back to the desert after 10 because they just kept coming. Until well after 2 AM. These were very fast moving storms, with sporadic areas lighting up. It was tough to keep a bearing in the darkness but with two cameras in full bulb mode, I managed to capture a few epic night shots. Los Lunas, New Mexico USA
And no, the horizon is not crooked. That's the slope of this part of the mesa.
This is the oncoming, fast-moving storm cell that produced the rainbow in the previous photo. Los Lunas, New Mexico USA
