Bryan O'Quinn, the genre-defying singing sensation, is like a musical chameleon. With his mind-blowing countertenor voice, he effortlessly glides through octaves, leaving audiences in awe. From pop to dance, soul to hip hop, house music to jazz, there's no genre that can contain his incredible talent.
But here's where it gets even juicier. O'Quinn didn't settle for just one genre. Oh no! He fearlessly dabbled in different styles, fearlessly mixing and matching to create mind-blowing musical concoctions. It's like he took a musical blender and threw in R&B, hip hop, and pop, creating a whole new sound that was perfect for getting down on the dance floor.
Not only did O'Quinn dominate the music scene, but he also ventured into other realms of entertainment. He founded BSM Entertainment, a powerhouse agency that handled everything from public relations to concert promotions. And let's not forget his acting chops! He graced the stage in children's theater productions and even took on off-Broadway musicals, proving that his talent knows no bounds.
For O'Quinn, music isn't just a job, it's a burning passion that fuels his every move. He's proud to have been part of the legendary New Jack Swing era, where the best party anthems were born. Can you imagine the energy and excitement he brought to the stage during that time? It's no wonder he's become an icon in the industry.
So, buckle up, my friend, because Bryan O'Quinn's musical journey is a wild ride filled with creativity, boundary-breaking, and a whole lot of soul.
Comprehensive businessman and music producer Bryan O’Quinn has a long history of promoting developments in popular and underground music, stretching back to the early new jack swing and early hip hop house music era of the late 80’s and early 1990’s. A music video extra in Diana Ross’ Working Overtime 1989 Bryan O’Quinn has worked as an extra in the 1996 comedy motion picture Eddie starring Whoopi Goldberg and Frank Langella.
In music, independent music, often shortened to indie music or "indie" is a term used to describe independence from major commercial record labels or their subsidiaries, and an autonomous, Do-It-Yourself approach to recording and publishing. The 1990s brought Affiliated Independent Record Companies (AIRCO), whose most notable member was upstart punk - thrash label Mystic Records and The Independent Music Retailer's Association (IMRA), a short-lived organization founded by Mark Wilkins and Don Kulak
MP3 files and digital download sites such as Apple's iTunes changed the recording industry, an indie Neo-soul scene soon emerged from the urban Underground soul scenes of London, NYC, Philadelphia, Chicago and L.A., primarily due to commercial radio and the major label's focus on the marketing, promotion & Airplay of Pop and hip hop music during this period.
Bryan O’Quinn believes that too many young artist today seem to focus their work on outdoing the next artist with such an unrealistic emphasis on the superficial aspects of show business. “I believe that creating good music is not about competition at all but rather communicating a your message or telling your story , Mr. O’Quinn explains “ nobody else can tell your story the way you can your story, through your passion and your spirit in your music”. Bryan said, “This is true in any field if you keep doing what you love it will in turn yield so much more to you and to others around you!”

This List of New Jack Swing artists includes singers and bands from 1986 to 1994 who performed in the New Jack Swing style!
New jack swing or swingbeat is a fusion genre spearheaded by Teddy Riley and Bernard Belle that became extremely popular from the late-1980s into the early 1990s. Its influence, along with hip-hop, seeped into pop culture and was the definitive sound of the inventive Black New York club scene. It fuses the rhythms, samples and production techniques of hip-hop and dance-pop with the urban contemporary sound of R&B. The new jack swing style developed as many previous music styles did, by combining elements of older styles with newer sensibilities. It used R&B style vocals sung over hip hop and dance-pop style influenced instrumentation. The sound of new jack swing comes from the hip hop "swing" beats created by drum machine, and hardware samplers, which was popular during the golden age of hip hop, with contemporary R&B style singing.

Bryan O’Quinn is sexy, soulful, and sophisticated on the latest photo shoot for his upcoming cd project. Preview one of the exclusive photos below and read the Profile of this swaged out R&B don!
A contract male model and public spokesperson for a number of relevant causes, Bryan O'Quinn was also one of the few alternative dance music artists to enjoy negligible mainstream exposure during the late '80s and early '90s glory days of hip-hop soul. His smooth crooning vocals have been described a sensation that is two parts honey one part lemon, and though he would not admit it he is considered by many of his supporters to be a relative sex symbol. “Yes I have worked as a model,” Bryan explained; “some of the ads are exotic, I view it as expression and art; just as I do in my music.”
For his new album he has drawn inspiration from his own songs that have held special moments and professional milestones through the years, and he has dedicated the album to: love, inspiration and dance. Profile of a Don, to be released by BSM Entertainment in cd and digital album packages, presents previously released, unreleased and brand new songs personally selected for the album by Bryan. Although P.O.A.D is now scheduled for a 2012 released date as promised several new singles and remixes will began circulating and become available for download in the fall of 2011.

Today's modern popular music can trace its roots to the emergence from Africa . The African American basis for popular music also used elements derived from European and indigenous musics.
Music in Africa is very important when it comes to religion. Songs and music are used in rituals and religious ceremonies, to pass down stories from generation too generation, as well as to sing and dance to.
It is without question it is a part of who I am ; so you see through the years , all of my music has had an African influence even my pop material message music , the beat and the soul .

More To Life
written and composed by Bryan O'Quinn
There is more to life than just going through
all the motions that we do
taking for granted all the little things
Over-looking what’s really good.
Take the time to find what inside your mind
don't let that pressure get to you once you realize
you can change your life to thine own self stay true.
It’s time, time to make a change we are the people who can do it
It’s the end of innocence the page is white the words are black and read
People live feeling poverty they’re loveless and bankrupt in the heart
Others choose to surrender they sell their soul and wind up nearly dead
Living in a world racked by poisoned views you don’t know which way to choose there’s more to life than going though the motion
More to life than meets the eye
If you look inside you will surely find
a way to reach the sky and touch your highest high
through your passion
if you conceive it in your mind
you can achieve it in do time
be true to you you'll do fine don't go through the motions.
There’s more to love
than physical attachment
there’s nothing better
than being understood
through trust loyalty and faith
Hold on to your dreams
reach and they’re yours
because you can be anything
that you want to be
There’s no place like home for the holiday’s

A hi-top fade is a style of haircut where hair on the sides is cut off or kept very low and hair on the top of the head is very long (in contrast, a low fade is when hair on the top is kept shorter). The hi-top has been a trend symbolizing the Golden Era of Hip Hop and urban contemporary music during the late 1980s and the early 1990s.

Bryan O’Quinn was one of the few underground dance music artists to enjoy negligible mainstream exposure during the late '80s and early '90s heyday of hip-hop soul. O’Quinn’s smooth seductive crooning style and erotic dance moves earned him a significant female following and made him a presence on the up and coming R&B dance music scene.

“He was one of the first rappers to earn a Grammy Award and was the first rapper to perform at the Grammys” (from Wikipedia)
OK, that’s something, definitely a milestone. But where is he now? That’s always the pertinent question in recorded music (be it “Pop” or “Hip Hop” or even “Bop”).
This was a happening tune when I bought the thing (the 45 rpm). And hey collector, it’s in the original sleeve (wrinkled sleeve). Wait a minute, let me put the needle on the record and go back there for a minute (3mins:55secs)
Kool Moe Dee moved the form forward and is also pegged as one of the first “battle rappers”. Jazz dubbed that kind of thing a “cutting contest”, but since in Hip Hop it’s words being thrown (instead of musical notes and phrases) the performers can get a lot more personal. His battle with Busy Bee Starski is legendary (this link, which runs down Kool Moe Dee’s bio also has a video about that battle) : www.oldschoolhiphop.com/artists/emcees/koolmoedee.htm
In fact, “How Ya Like Me Now” is an LL Cool J diss, as Kool thought LL was biting other rappers styles without giving due respect. Anyhow . . . the attendant hype was one way to keep the audience on edge and up to date (sort of like “the latest news in the rap wars”).
