This female showed at her best when she perched on top of a Hawthorn hedge. In better light, she showed her true colours and I could better appreciate the amount of brown feathers on her crown, nape and ear coverts.

'2021 - A CHALLENGING SPRING.'
It was a drab, chilly day when I found this female Common Whitethroat. She was very confiding and relaxed, giving good photo opportunities. Sadly though, the day was overcast and the hedge she favoured, flailed and ugly!
How I needed an azure blue sky to capture her against ... (and I'm certain she needed more invertebrates than she was finding)!

A newly arrived female Common Whitethroat that I photographed back in the Spring. It was highly active, vocal and posed a lot in the open. The downside was that it chose an ugly, flailed hedgerow to hang out in!
Something had caught her attention in the grass verge below, when I made this image. She became quite agitated and uttered a series of low alarm calls. I never did see what had upset her so much though!

Early the other day I noticed the chrysalis was a lot darker so I went in and got the camera. I was happy when I saw inside.
Another visitor has come into the Harbor. I understand that MB is a popular stop for long distance sailors, although I think a lot of them come from Santa Barbara. Long distance enough I guess, especially if your traveling by water. It's fun to watch them come in.
A newly arrived Harris Hawk perched in an olive tree in my garden. This Hawk was captured by my Aide Heather using a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.
There's a mesquite tree in the background whose leaves are visible at the lower right.

One of my cats showed up while I was out shooting so I decided to move the butterfly for it's safety. It's wings were still drying and it wasn't strong enough to fly.
brand new for Fiji Airway A350-900 DQ-FAJ...she arrived at NAN/NFFN a few hours ago (this is one of two A359s that Hong Kong Airlines did not take up);
Fiji Link DHC-6-400 DQ-FJS being dwarfed by this big bus!
She didn't want to be behind the fashion trend and looked for the "New Arrival" section to keep herself up-to-date。

So excited! I got my parcel Thursday containing these guys but have been too busy to enjoy them. Still busy I quickly took their portraits so I could share with everyone!

We celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied and multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.
