This path requires people to hop from one wet stepping stone to the next to cross to the next section of the park. It is easy for most people and fun, but is, of course, something that would never be done in the U.S. for safety and access reasons.
This is actually my sister-in-law patiently waiting for me to be ready to leave. I am not sure my fellow travelers understood why I found the mass, unused new construction so fascinating.
There are some pretty views around the new ponds at Tres Rios. You can see the smog along the base of the Estrella Mountains in the distance. It was a pretty morning for a visit. This area isn't open to the public yet. My friend Lynne and I got permission to be there.

This member of the Pea family only occurs in a very few places in this city - I think I have seen it in just three locations. It's one of my favourite wildflowers. Love the brilliant yellow with faint red lines, and the way the flowers tend to form a ring or a partial ring. This one was growing at Bowmont Park. Unfortunately, it is an introduced plant from Eurasia.
When you leave a finished structure empty for a year or so, things happened. Glass panes in the fences were broken here and there. There was also a door broken open.
A large monument which is impressive in that is visible from a large distance. I didn't quite make the connection of how it related to battle it commemorated.
Lake Chao is one of the larger freshwater lakes in China and has historical significance. Part of the master development project includes planting a lot of plant life in the lake. It is very beautiful now and I am sure will be more impressive once it has all grown in.
This museum, surrounded by a fountain / moat, is meant to look like the front of two ships. The museum commemorates an important battle which hinged on the crossing of Lake Chao... If my memory serves.
Took this photo on Sunday, shortly before we got caught on some hillsides in a nasty, severe rainstorm accompanied by thunder, lightning and HAIL! I was soaked to the skin and of course ended up with few photos : ).
This strange structure was visible from the road. I asked to stop. It is a beautiful building intended as a public utility building, It is complete, but not in use yet. A few curiosity seekers were there, but it was otherwise unattended.
