Sasha, a very large Bengal or Amur Tiger at the Bronx Zoo, was a very frequent and active tiger that the zoo often put into the visible exhibit for visitors. He fathered many tiger cubs with the females the zoo also kept. He's the subject of a lot of my Amur Tiger photos on here, and I miss him dearly. © 2009-Current.

Linville Light Show - FEEL FREE TO SHARE!
Typically, it takes me about 15 minutes to walk a mile. If you factor in the terrain on the Hawksbill trail in the Linville Gorge, you can certainly count that out. The trail to Hawksbill is roughly 1.5 miles up and back (0.8 miles one way), but it ascends a steep 700 ft in 0.8 miles to reach the peak of 4,009 ft. To say the hike is strenuous is an understatement, in my opinion. But don’t be fooled; the strenuous part is only near the end. Once you ascend to the peak, your effort is rewarded with one of the most beautiful 360 degree panoramic views in the Gorge. Rock outcroppings frame the iconic Table Rock and Shortoff Mountain peaks to the south, the Linville River 2,000 feet below, and the beautiful and rocky western face of the gorge in front of you. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a spectacular light show as the clouds roll over the ridges of the Blue Ridge Mountains, creating some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets imaginable. I visited on December 7, 2015 and was lucky enough to see a beautiful show of sundays bursting through the clouds just minutes before sunset. This photo is another image in a series of sun rays portraits of the gorge from my winter visit. Enjoy, and stay tuned for more!

alwayspackedadventures: Don't have one yet but looking to get that CRKT you have there. Looks like it's worth the money.
Two beautiful tigers at the Columbus Zoo made for some good photography when I was visiting the area back in 2011. Usually solitary, I believe these guys were adolescents from the same litter. It was clear that they were starting to really push each other's buttons and would soon be kept separate. © 2011-Current.
Saw this man sitting on the steps of an Edinburgh church while reading his newspaper. The headline, The Lord's Player made me smile.

Once upon a time there lived a Young noble man, let’s call him lord something-or-other, who was the earl of the village. He lived in a big house, or rather a castle, which he had inherited with a large fortune. As Jane Austen would say, he was in want of a wife, but let’s start explaining this in detail. This young lord was incredibly handsome and charming, he had a smile that... ok, he was very much like Dan Stevens in Downton Abbey, but his marriages wouldn’t last long, and there laid his secret. Like a Dorian Gray of sorts this man never aged, although he didn’t have a portrait to age for him, no, he had wives; a new wife every ten years or so, and he sucked the life of them, like a vampire but without all the inconveniences of being a vampire, plus he ate and breathed like every other man. Every time one of his wives (of course one at a time, polygamy is illegal) went old before her time he gave her a big sum of money and let her go. That’s scary you would think, but he was irresistible, I mean, he was Dan Stevens in Downton Abbey! No woman would dare say no, and they didn’t want to, beside memories fail and as soon as the “old” wife was sent away, they’d forget her. Years and wives came and went... until one time he wanted to marry one particular maid who was in love with someone else, and when he proposed she said NO. The lad tried to persuade her, gave her reasons as wealth, houses, horses and cats (who can resist cats?), but the answer was NO everytime. You would suppose he would abduct her or force her, but he didn’t, he was really charming... like Dan Stevens... you know how it goes. Matthew Crawley wouldn’t do it.
From the moment she said her final NO he closed the doors of his castle and refused to see anyone ever again. He never took another wife, he became old and bitter... some say he died, I don’t know. I think he’s still there, flesh and bone or ghost, we’ll never know.
By the way, the girl got rejected by her loved one and after a few weeks in tears she moved on and started over somewhere else.

A housework day and come 3.30pm, I thought I ought to take a daily pic, and this sign by my back door become the subject. And it was taken with with the £20 plastic Holga lens :)
