La passerelle de l'Utopie

Morning mood on Lake Neuchâtel. It's 4 o'clock in the morning. The alarm clock rattles next to my sleeping bag. Get out of the warmth and out into the freshness of the new morning. It's wonderful (ok, ok - it would be nice in my sleeping bag too - after the shoot I have to go there again...). The tree for the photo had already been found yesterday. So let's go. The sky is already slightly colored. Quickly set up the tripod, mount the camera, extend the bellows - set all screws to "normal". I look at the scene through the ground glass. It's getting more and more red! Wonderful! Measure the light, set the aperture to 8, set shutter speed, then: safety shot - everything ok. Remove ground glass, mount film back, get ready for the shot. It's very quiet. I'm all alone. It's what i love.

View of Neuchatel lake from Chaumont mountain in autumn, the sky was in the process of clearing, the distant Bernese Alps weren't visible yet, but they were clear in the evening versions to be uploaded in the future.

One of the icons of Neuchatel city, I could never figure out where this view was, I kept walking around several times, found slightly different viewpoints but not this. So on Sunday I decided to walk until I find it. I had to climb around 3 millions steps because every staircase had a private property at the end so had to go back down and try another staircase. I eventually found a narrow passage right next to the rail track. I didn't hang around there long as it was midday with a harsh sun, following next 2 days were raining so returned there yesterday for sunrise. Unfortunately there was no colour in the sky so will have to return in the next few days
