Neston Marshes on the River Dee just before sunrise.
Love flying the drone around this area. Nothing to hit and the marsh looks a lot more interesting from above :)
Neston Saltmarsh
Another photo from last weeks wander around the marshes
Kate Bush stuck in my head after the recent popularity of Running Up That Hill due to Stranger Things using the track. Probably should mention it also being stuck in my head when going up Helsby Hill on Sunday!
The name Neston is of Viking origin, deriving from the Old Norse Nes-tún, meaning 'farmstead or settlement at/near a promontory or headland'. Another Nesttun town can be found near Bergen, Norway.
Little Neston marshes first thing this morning. Overcast to begin with then the cloud parted just as the sun popped it's head above the horizon. The Harp pub is the white building and the industry of Deeside is to the right.
A winter morning
Absolutely nothing going on with the clouds this morning but i still spent nearly 2 hours wandering around the marshes taking photos.
Neston Marshes(Temperature -3) with a thin layer of ice on the marsh pools.
The weathers not been great for flying the drone with the high winds recently. But i spotted a window of good weather on Friday morning and i was owed a few hours off from work so took a trip out to Neston Marshes for Sunrise.
It was so cold but the sky was looking good so i took a few photos whilst waiting for the sun to come up(see above!). Unfortunately by the time it came to flying the drone i was getting a warning on the app "battery temp to low, unable to launch", gutted! I'd not seen this before and to be honest i couldnt disagree. it was cold! So i left the drone on to see if it would warm up and took more photos. Glad i did as 5min later the sun came up behind the trees and looked great.
Long story short, i did get the drone to fly but about 8min(out of 12min) didnt record. lesson learnt though, keep the batteries warm in cold temperatures :)
Neston is a small market town on the Wirral in Cheshire. It was my home town from 1960 until the late seventies.
Neston was a major port before the River Dee silted up. The port was then shifted further downstream to the nearby town of Parkgate, although by early nineteenth century, most traffic had ultimately transferred to Liverpool.
Neston Marshes
So i told Rebecca that we shouldn't wander off coastal path near Burton as its farm land but she was convinced it was ok! Lovely spot for a few photos but the angry farm hand didn't agree! Felt like a kid being told off even though he was in his early twenties but he was a tall lad!
Dont try this at home!

Good conditions for flying today. Always love flying over the marsh, The location is pretty interesting from above. Also nothing to crash into and you get good connection.
Watching the light fade on New Years Eve and hoping for a better year than the last one.
Solomon was looking across the water to Wales but spotted the camera and turned to have his photo taken.
It was fascinating watching the several separate flocks of birds flying round and not bumping into each other.
Happy New Year everybody.
230 008 arrives at Neston on a run to Wrexham Central. A ride on this battery powered train, using heavily modified ex London Underground stock, was smooth with rapid acceleration from the several stops. There are many seats in fours with tables and all seats coincide with windows (praise be!). These units are not yet proving very reliable and another unit had failed on this line earlier in the day. The other services on this route were being worked by a Transport for Wales class 150 unit.

Neston Marshes.
Perched on a picnic bench outside of The Harp enjoying a pint on a sunny cold day back in February. Normally the marshes are quite empty with the occasional person. I wasn't quite sure what was happening at first, turns out it was a group of students taking soil samples on the marsh.
