I have no idea where this bird was planning to take this nesting material, since we have made every potential nesting site on our property unusable, but they're still flying around with beaks full of stuff, looking for somewhere to put it. (If you haven't read the rest of this saga, please don't feel sorry for them - once they've got young, or even an egg, they attack everyone, drawing blood. They are, officially, vermin, despite their beauty and elegance.)

It wasn't my intention when I started making this, but I think it looks like a Russian Nesting doll.
My first thought when I began it was, "Can you see me?" But as she began to take shape, I kept hearing, "I am a part of something bigger than myself."

This sterling silver ring takes on a distinctly modern feel with two circular saucers nestled one inside the other. The little domes sit atop a slim sterling band and the ring has been oxidized and polished by hand to accentuate the simple forms. The larger dome measures approximately .5" in diameter.
Each ring is made to order. Please select your size below and allow approximately one week for the creation of your ring before shipping. 36
July 3, 2019 – Nesting.
We have a lot of nesting activity in the Gardens right now. This is an American Redstart, one of my favourite summer visitors.
A nesting house wren, living on my parents' front porch. It was a little skeptical of me and my camera for a while, but got back to the business of feeding its little ones.
One female and her harem of three males have been nesting in the canal behind my house for the last four years. For 2011 they arrived on March 3rd.
The female tends to be plain looking and brown while the males are much more colorful.
I noticed this squirrel digging around in the leaves and then bringing some up this tree. I've seen squirrel nests before - clumps of leaves high in the trees - but never before seen one building a nest. Very busy and funny-looking. =)
This little one has been busy buzzing back and forth, feeding and attending it's nest box. I have been watching other activity like this around the property in recent days (more pics of that activity coming up) so I was wondering if the Chickadees would come back to this "household." Sure enough, I was working around and a bird flew by. I checked and didn't see anything but suddenly heard some tapping from inside the birdhouse, lol. I was pretty tired but I wanted to get a photo so I made some chipping noises to see if it would show itself... sure enough, it peeked out, I took a quick picture, it flew out, perched up on a vine for a moment and went back to the opening.... probably letting me know they were back. I hope to get more pics.
- I was lucky enough to find a nesting swan last weekend and managed to spend a lot of time observing her maternal behaviors. Definitely something I'll never forget. Kennet and Avon Canal, Devizes.
