Another throwback shot. This was in preparation for a show I was in by the incredible Deyna Marie Howlett-Bade.
A great walk in a fantastic wind across the wet strand of Grenitote. These great shapes took my eye, and Neptune's net by M Ward sounds perfect
Waterscape #2 of 100 for 2025.
The seaweed in this rockpool, Hormosira, is commonly known as Neptune's necklace, Neptune's pearls, sea grapes, or bubbleweed. It is native to Australia and New Zealand. It is everywhere on our stretch of coast. Apparently it outcompetes other algal species due to its high tolerance to desiccation.
It kind of reminds me of the red weed in War of the Worlds. Except it isn't red. And it isn't Martian. And it isn't fertilised with human blood. It is weed though!
Have a great week out there.
Thanks for all the kind comments , they are always greatly appreciated.
Beautiful drainage patterns swept me down the beach at Church Cove on the Lizard. A hazy sun shone as the rollers crash don the cliffs. Another empty beach , Neptune's net by M Ward is fine.
Large, opulent fountain built in 1776 featuring marble sculptures grouped around a Neptune figure. The artist was Johann Ferdinand von Hohenberg in the Schönbrunn gardens, Vienna
Built in 1893 and unveiled by the then Mayoress Mrs J. C. Griffith, the Neptune Fountain is an impressive expression of design, fashioned from Portland Stone by Joseph Hall. The designer employed the services of local company – Boulton & Sons – to fabricate the piece. One of the most iconic landmarks in Cheltenham, it has been suggested that the artists took inspiration from the Trevi Fountain in Rome.
Ajuy, a popular little village on the west coast of the Island with spectacular waves, views and black caves and is the natural monument of geological and historical value. Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain
A HAPPY BLUE MONDAY and WEEK:)
........still dreaming of vacations....................
The geological nature of the archipelago of Milos is the main reason for its fabulous variety of colors and landscapes.
Milos and the nearby islands belong to an important volcanoes alignment called 'Aegean Volcanic Arc' formed by the subduction of the African plate under the Aegean area. This arc goes from the golf of Korinthos to the west cost of Turkey.
The main volcanic districts are represented by: Methana-Poros, Milos, Nysiros and Santorini , this latter being the only one showing a remarkable volcanic activity over known history..
