If I can't get comfortable on these, drop-bars are not for me. Double-wrap of Specialized S-Wrap (Cork/Phat) with Fi'zi:k Microtex on top. The Fi'zi:k had a nice suede feel but was way too thin for riding off-road.

Another fantastic creation done by Petersen Engineering. Based on 1930s Rolls-Royce Phantom II, with V12, 27 Litre Rolls-Royce aircraft engine !. And with Bentley bulkhead, steering, radiator and break components.

8kg now. More weight loss to gain in seatpost, headset and wheels. And ti bottle cage bolts of course.

This late 1960's RIH is my ugliest bike but, now built as randonneur, gets ridden plenty and is full of tricks too. With fat, tubeless tires, full fenders, hub dynamo lighting and rack it's my bike of choice for touring or just when the weather is nasty.

It's not even very heavy: 11,5kg complete with everything in the photos.

This is typical WorkCycles. Most evenings after we close the doors a colleague or two stays to work on their own bike projects. Dylan's been working on this 1960's neo-retro-porto Rih for a year or so now. Yesterday we found some nicer brake levers in my bins and suitable pedals are to be chosen. The lighting wires will, of course, be routed internally.

"Neo-Retro" is a common theme here: hot-rodded 1960's folding bikes, 1980's race frames in city bikes, my son's wicked little Army bike etc.

Yes, we are bike nerds and damn proud of it.

Who is to say that all classic spacemen are guys. How boring would space be then?

Another tribute, this time it's set 889 "Radar Truck."

After hanging on the wall at WorkCycles for the last couple years my old steel track bike got a Neo-Retro update and is ready to hit the velodrome again.

Frame was custom built for me by Todd Pugsley in California in the early 90's. Stem was also custom built by friend Ross Shafer (of Salsa fame).

Why the short headtube and upright stem? Because I used the bike both for mass start and omnium racing with different handlebar setups. Back in those days LOW was the way to go.

I'm psyched to get back on a real cyclocross bike, this time a neo-retro single-speeder. The Altec (French) frame had a broken top tube which I repaired with a sleeve. That set the theme for the rest of the bike: Scrapheap Challenge, every part is either rescued or from my (admittedly extensive) bins. 8,5kg complete in case you're wondering.
