Taste Of London probably needs no introduction but I’ll give you a quick one just in case! Essentially a food and drink festival that celebrates food and drink in all its myriad, magnificent and miraculous forms - Taste Of London puts a big focus on the capital's (almost limitless) restaurant scene. The setting/backdrop is the glorious green expanse of Regents Park - where you shall find many thousands of exhibitors (from tiny independents all the way up to huge international chains) and even more people who have come from all over the country to see what the hell the fuss is all about.
What to do here? Imbibe, ingest and expend (yup). For example, here you have the opportunity to taste the signature dishes from some of the city’s most exclusive restaurants in rapid succession (well, if you've got the crowns to do it - the Taste festival's fiat currency). There's also masterclasses, demos, live music, free samples galore, and the chance to buy nice things to take home at a deep discount. It's a LOT of stuff in one (large) place - in fact, to really experience the extent of it you would probably need to spend multiple days here. Which is both fine and doable because it’s a multi day festival -and no day is exactly the same.
Highlights from this year include a large, Pilsner Urquell tent - full of delicious tank beer, delicious tank people (uh) and delicious non tank burgers paired to with said beer. Also worth a mention are the lovely people at Les Dauphines, who we usually end up spending what’s left of the evening with - whilst imbibing what’s left of that Côtes du Rhône. Hope to see you all there next year!
A deadly earthquake of 7.5 magnitude shook Indonesia on September 28, causing a humanitarian crisis which has directly affected around 2.5 million people in the region. Hundreds of people have been confirmed dead while thousands of others are missing or trapped in the rubble as rescuers continue their efforts to save the victims. Donggala is the area worst damaged by the earthquake and witnesses have reported complete destruction of many cities. A tsunami warning has also been issued for islands and areas close to sea.
In such a grave situation, the Indonesian government has appealed the international community to extend support to handle the humanitarian crisis. Responding to the call, Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan is launching an emergency relief operation for the victims of the earthquake in collaboration with the partner welfare organizations undertaking on ground rescue and rehabilitation activities.
You can send donations to “Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan” through your bank account, home collection or Online Donations to ease the sufferings of the earthquake victims.
