Hands of the elderly woman carrying out handwork. Knitting by means of spokes and a red woolen thread.
The embroidered flower is 2 inches in size and the petals and three knots in the middle are made of silk ribbons. (I loosened one of the knots a bit so you could see that it was a knot.)

A woman in the form of a gypsy from the times of the First World War. The photo was taken during the festival "Times and Epochs", in Moscow..In those old days all women were engaged in needlework. My mother also taught me a lot, and I want to say that needlework is not only the original beautiful clothes, but also a great health benefit, especially for the nervous system :)
My grandmother used to do a lot of needlework. I think it was a main subject at girls' school. Her (brass?) thimble is placed on the detail of an old pillowcase done by her.
As a child I used to be less appreciative of this art and found these pillowcases very scratchy.

Pied Currawong on a pine tree. Its fresh buds must be a delicacy.

My tree design and quilt work.
All square and triangle pieces cut, colour co-ordinated, stitched together and machine quilted by me.
Each square piece measure 2 inches.
(720 squares make up the main picture.....I'm not sure how many of those squares are made up from triangles, too many to count :)).
Quilt measures 73 inches x 61 inches.
Many thanks for your visit 🙏

Detail of a pillow given to us by a neighbor we called Grampa Glenn almost 40 years ago.. His wife, who had passed away before we became neighbors, had made it during WWII.

The love of quilting is their common thread.
These Blythe dolls are Stella Serendipitous, Coquette Lumiere, and Leading Lady Lucy, posing for the theme “Needlework” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. My friend Angie Coppi made the beautiful dolly quilt for us.
A few days ago I posted a photo of a huipil that was embroidered by Oaxacan artist Natividad Amador. She has also produced a series of needleworks that are based upon modern Mexican paintings. Here is one of these works. These were exhibited last winter at the Museo Textil de Oaxaca in the city of Oaxaca, Mexico
