The name Spakenburg appears for the first time in the 15th century. The fishing village was on the Zuiderzee and has had many floods. For that reason, the houses were initially built high against the dyke. The ports of Spakenburg are inextricably linked to the development of the village. Here were the botters with which the fishermen earned their living. Around 1892 the village had around 200 fishing vessels.
After the closure of the Zuiderzee in 1932, the fishing fleet went downhill. Nowadays there are still thirty botters in the old harbor. This is little compared to the past, but this is about half the current Dutch botter fleet. In the 1920s the fleet consisted of around two hundred ships, a large proportion of which ended up in the wreck cemetery off the coast of Spakenburg until the 1970s. Little remains of fishing; In the summer of 2008 the last professional fisherman from Spakenburg stopped. The village still lives largely from the fish trade or bread and cake.
Before the arrival of the Afsluitdijk, Spakenburg was in the wild Zuiderzee and flooding posed a threat to the fishing population. The last flood was in January 1916. During this disaster, a girl was born in the attic of the Vedder family, Wilhelmina Aartje. A few days later, Queen Wilhelmina visited Spakenburg. She also took Wilhelmina Aartje as godchild. Since then she has regularly visited Spakenburg, together with daughter Juliana. A statue of the queen stands at the head of the New Haven to commemorate the flood of 1916. Wilhelmina Aartje Vedder died at the age of 90 in 2006.
The Botterwerf is the oldest shipyard in the Netherlands that is still in operation. Spakenburg is the only place in the province of Utrecht that used to be on the sea, the Zuiderzee. Just like any other place on the former Zuiderzee, fishing was a major source of life. The fishing vessels have since been turned into a brown fleet. In Spakenburg, the shipyard is still making and repairing the old shipyard's botters for that fleet.
The history of the yard goes back to 1750. The yard consists of four slipways, a red wooden shed (1901), a bone shed (1840) and a forge (1904) on Oude Schans. The yard is a so-called sleigh yard, the ship is supported by a sleigh throughout its length. It is therefore extremely suitable for wooden ships. The wharf played an important role in the development of the Zuiderzee fishery.

The Gravestenenbrug is a drawbridge, intended for pedestrians in the center of the city of Haarlem. The current bridge dates from 1950 and replaced the bridge that had been in place for around 600, if not 800 years. The bridge connects the bank of the Korte Spaarne on the Binnen Spaarne with that of the Bakenessergracht.

NEMO Science Museum

NEMO Science Museum (from latin Nobody) is a science center in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is located in the Oosterdokseiland neighborhood in the Amsterdam-Centrum borough, situated between the Oosterdokseiland and the Kattenburg. The museum has its origins in 1923, and is housed in a building designed by Renzo Piano since 1997. It contains five floors of hands-on science exhibitions and is the largest science center in the Netherlands.

In de avond van 6 Februari 2021 viel er sinds jaren weer een bijzondere hoeveelheid sneeuw in Nederland waardoor het plan ontstond om de dolimetrein eens in een witte wereld vast te leggen. Op 12 Februari 2021 waren de omstandigheden optimaal, een strak blauwe lucht.
Op deze dag reed Lineas naast de gewone set ook weer een met de extra set vanuit Onnen. Deze wagens zijn niet meer nodig in dit vervoer doordat de vraag naar dolime is teruggenomen. Lineas bracht de wagens dus over vanuit Onnen naar Kijfhoek waarna ze voor onderhoud richting Duitsland gingen.
Op de foto passeert de van TCS gehuurde fris gewassen 101001, die tijdelijk de defecte 101002 vervangt met de fraaie extra set de aanwezige fotografen ter hoogte van Punthorst onder nummer 50307 vanuit Onnen naar Kijfhoek Noord.

Assel - Voordat ik weer verder ga met de Franse escapades keren we terug naar Nederland, alwaar ik zo nu en dan nog eens actief ben. Naast het werk fotografeer ik de laatste tijd bijzonder weinig in eigen land. Een goede reden om weeral de wagen te nemen om eens wat plaatjes te maken. Zodoende borrelde het idee om eens een herkansing te doen voor de bekende Assel-plaat van IC 141 naar Hamm Hbf. Vorig jaar waagde ik een poging een maand eerder. Op de dag af een jaar en één maand na die foto stond ik op dezelfde plek. Ook toen al stond op de planning om de foto te herkansen, maar dat schoot er bij in door diverse andere reisjes naar Frankrijk, Tsjechië en uiteraard - hoe kan het ook anders - Polen.
Zodoende schoot ik een goede maat aan die deze foto ook nog wel hoog op het lijstje had staan. Hij stond vorig jaar andere kant op te fotograferen. Sindsdien is het plan in de achterhoofden blijven plakken en op 15 juli kwam het dan toch tot een foto. Ik had nog wat zaken te regelen in Twello, dus ontstond al snel het plan om eens richting de Asselse ingraving te rijden. Ruim op tijd stonden we klaar, genietend van de heerlijke rust die hier hangt. Die werd echter niet lang daarna verstoord door Schnitzel-expreß IC 141 naar Hamm(Westf) Hbf. Sinds de 15e rijdt deze trein niet meer naar Berlin, maar naar het ten oosten van het Ruhrgebiet gelegen Hamm.
Vanwege werken in Duitsland worden de treinen Amsterdam - Berlin in de periode 15 juli t.e.m. 5 augustus omgeleid via Münster in Westfalen, waarbij in Münster(Westf) Hbf wordt omgelopen. Daarna rijdt men naar Osnabrück Hbf, zodat men via de Kurve richting Löhne en dus Berlin kan sporen. Dat geldt echter niet voor IC 141, die vanuit Münster(Westf) Hbf doorgetrokken is naar Hamm(Westf) Hbf. Die trein sluit goed aan op de ICE naar Berlin, die je zelfs een uur sneller in Berlin brengt dan de IC ooit deed.
IC 141 vertrekt om stipt 7.00u uit Amsterdam Centraal, om uiteindelijk in Hamm aan te komen om 10.53u. Vanuit Hamm(Westf) Hbf vertrekt de trein weer om 15.15u als IC 144. Het geheel is om stipt 19.00u weer in Amsterdam. Hoe perfect wil je het hebben, 12 uur op, 12 uur af. Anyhoe, loc 1745 is met het stammetje rijtuigen onderweg naar Bad Bentheim, en passeert de goedkeurend klikkende fotografen in bijzonder fraai licht.
