It was the passing of my dear and beautiful furry friend of 13 years that caused me to join Flickr back in 2014, and in strangely bitter-sweet irony I find myself rejoining Flickr with my picture of the oldest and most regal cat I ever knew, Hattie.
In Memoriam of our sweet Hattie Cat, who came to us six months ago as a rescue. Hattie was a very old cat, and came to us starved and suffering from the later stages of feline renal failure. We guesstimate his age to be close to 30 years old, and his breed to be Nebelung, meaning "Creature of the Mist" made popular by literature. It is a rare type of Russian Blue specialty breed. He has very large fangs that hang down, but I was unable to get a photo of them as he was very self-conscious about them. We believe it is possible he outlived his previous owner, and by some guardian angel, was guided to our doorstep in the country after he was discarded by humans. He was such a great cat, and lived a very long life. He managed to feel much better for a little while, and these pictures were taken on a good day for him. We were happy to give this old guy a place to happily live out his days, and he taught us many lessons about life, and about how we treat others. We are better people for having known King Hattie. We know we will see you again, sweet beautiful Hattie.

Couldn't resist a shot of Fyero in her statue pose on the arm of the couch; she doesn't get up here as much as she used to and nowadays when she does climb up here it's usually to rest in her 'loaf' position so this was a nice change of pace, especially with the light coming in the window and framing her so nicely.

I really liked the way Fyero's eye caught the light here and happily she was willing to wait a second before moving on to another spot so I could grab a quick photo.

Fyero did go outside today; she hollered at me for ten minutes so I opened the door and out we went. Two minutes later she decided the wind wasn't for her and she'd rather watch the squirrels from the window, so back inside we came.
She watched the squirrel at the feeder intently for about 10 minutes before settling in for a nap while Scott and Sock were out on their walk.

Over the past couple days Fyero has decided that this little end table is her spot, I'm not entirely sure what it is about this spot but she has been enjoying surveying the dining room / living room from this vantage point.

Fyero on her 'perp' walk after leaving the 'safety zone' this afternoon. As you can probably tell, she wasn't too impressed by Scott providing an escorted return to the designated safety zone, but it had to be done.

It was a dull and rainy day today and Fyero was ready to nap the day.
She had just switched napping locations when I snapped this and was settling back in for her next nap of the day.
I thought it was cute that you can really see her sinking into her sleepiness here.

There's something so amusing about a cat who wakes up from a nap, insists on going outside and is then very displeased by the fact that it's actually raining and snowing outside.
Doesn't matter if you, the human, warn the cat that the weather isn't to their liking, it's still somehow your fault that it isn't a perfect day.
Needless to say, Fyero's visit outside today was a fairly short visit.

Fyero was a bit on the cranky side today, but that didn't stop me from annoying her with my camera.

We originally thought she'd hurt her hip, but in seems she may have had a stroke or her cancer had spread. This is the last photo I have of my girl in her favourite throne.

Between the rain showers today; Fyero found time in her busy schedule of naps to venture outside and take stock of what's what. After chasing away the pigeons (too close to the garden) and annoying the squirrel (in her way), she turned her attention to inspecting the somewhat neglected garden.
She's decided it needs work and I should be disappointed in myself.
Fair enough Fyero, fair enough.

Fyero has a sore hip today so we've implemented the cat taxi service (for the stairs) all heating pads have been set to low for her comfort.
I'm waiting on a call back from the vet but hopefully we can get her something to help ease some of her discomfort.
