Arctic Soul / Inuvialuit friend, Danielle Mager (one of my favourite subjects), photographed this week in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories

Lighting: two Elinchrom studio lights/softboxes, one about 45 degrees to my left, one about 125 degrees from me to her behind her on the right. Canon 5DMIII + Sigma F/4 24-105 Art lens (one of the sharpest zooms I've ever used), ISO 100, f/3.2, 1/160-second exposure. I used a ND filter to allow me to shoot at F/3.2..

Bigger And Better

in Edinburgh's port - long exposure with ND 1000

Photo de gauche : la rosace métallique qui surmontait le chevet de Notre-Dame. Elle a été laissée en place telle qu'elle est tombée pendant l'incendie.

Photo de droite : le Christ bénissant, statue sommitale du pignon sud, préparée pour son enlèvement.

Tout ce qui est enlevé doit l'être avec d'infinies précautions pour éviter toute dégradation lorsqu'il s'agit d'ornements (vitraux, statues, gargouilles...) et pour tout après s'être assuré que ça ne risque pas de provoquer de déséquilibre dans les masses : l'édifice pourrait encore plus fragilisé que cela a été estimé après l'incendie.

(Es). Historia: San Juan de la Arena, Asturias, España. Hoy salía con ganas de echar el tiempo en hacer las fotos. Parecía un día de teléfono tranquilo, así que me dispuse a retomar durante un rato el filtro ND Starblitz ND Fader variable. No tenía ánimo de cargar con el trípode telescópico, así que salí con el mini adaptable de patas articuladas. Apoyaría en las piedras y en la arena.

Toma: Monté la cámara en el mini-trípode articulado y apoyé el conjunto en las peñas, lo que me impedía ver bien por el ocular y utilicé el visor digital. Hice varias tomas, pero he de comentar que dicho filtro da malos resultados en el rango más denso, ya que produce un oscurecimiento más intenso en forma de una X, dos diagonales de esquina a esquina que arruinan la foto. Sólo es utilizable en un rango del 80/85 % desde la parte menos densa.

Tratamiento: Con Aperture. Original en RAW. Mejora básica del RAW con los parámetros predefinidos de Aperture. Nivelado y recorte del encuadre. Aumento ligero del contraste para no endurecer el efecto del filtro sobre las olas y la plataforma de agua. Modificación de tonos y luces.

(En). The History: San Juan de la Arena, Asturias, Spain. Today it was going out with desire of take time to doing the photos. It seemed a day of calm telephone, so I prepared to recapture during awhile the filter ND Starblitz ND changeable Fader. It did not have intention of loading with the telescopic tripod, so I went out with the adaptable mini-articulated legs. It would rest on the stones and on the sand.

Taking up: I mounted the camera in the articulated mini-tripod and supported the set in the rocks, which it was preventing myself from seeing well for the ocular one and used the digital visor. I did several captures, but I have to comment that the above mentioned filter gives bad results in the densest range, since a more intense dimness produces in the shape of a X, two diagonals of corner to corner that they ruin the photo. Only it is usable in a range of 80/85 % from the least dense part.

Treatment: With Aperture. Original in RAW. Basic improvement of the RAW with Aperture's preset parameters. Levelled and clipping of the frame. Light increase of the contrast not to harden the effect of the filter on the waves and the water platform. Modification of tones and lights.
