Applewood Hills Greenbelt Trail.

I can't figure out if this is Chinese Privet, or Yaupon Holly. Whichever, it grows profusely in Louisiana woods.

A family's lazy Sunday nature walk

Couldn't have asked for a more perfect day for a walk at the arboretum...An incoming flock of Canada geese agreed...They landed on land across the lake, splatted into the water, swam across, then out they got for their own promenade...

Have a terrific weekend! :-)

I felt lucky these Bluebirds posed for a portrait.

Taken on my last nature walk, before it got too cold.

This rose is on the north side of my house and it's in very heavy shade all day in the winter. I wonder if these buds will open.

Cannon Beach, Ecola State Park, Oregon. Even on a cloudy day, the view is spectacular!

Looking more like a stream than a river, the Comite is so low that you can walk on the river bed. It's getting to where we face a drought every summer. I just hope we don't lose any more trees. We lost 3 in our front yard alone, last year.

Well, I went back to Sandy Creek for a closer look at the tiny wildflowers lining the trails, but I made a huge mistake by forgetting to check my batteries. Not quite as bad as not checking to make sure you have a memory card inserted, but almost...

I did get a few shots before my luck ran out.

This photograph presents a detailed close-up of several pine cones suspended from a branch laden with vibrant green needles. The pine cones exhibit a rich, reddish-brown hue, showcasing their textured surface. The background is a blur of green foliage, suggesting a dense natural environment. The lighting is soft and diffused, highlighting the details of the pine cones and needles.

Autumn is coming to an end and I'm already thinking back to the green landscapes of summer. The snow will fly soon.

This open area is usually covered with a foot or so of water, but is now dry as a bone and covered with weeds. Is this the new normal? What will the next big change be? I've noticed that I've seen hardly any insects or spiders on my nature walks lately, not even mosquitoes. This is all so not OK.
