I only went up to the woods at lunchtime as I saw some lingering mist. I wasn't expecting to be treated to a crepuscular display at that time of day, not that I was complaining of course! Been almost a year since I last had a display in these woods. Taken in Hillock Woods, Buckinghamshire.
The mist taking on the orange hue of the autumnal woodland was a joy to see and the title sprang to mind easily. Taken in Whiteleaf Woods, Buckinghamshire.
Some more autumnal goodness from Barnes's Grove, Buckinghamshire. Trying to isolate characters in this dense area of woodland becomes a challenge but this character just managed to give itself some room to spread its display.
A very frosty morning found me in Barnes's Grove, Buckinghamshire, where the remaining beech leaves are turning into their copper versions that will linger for a few months yet.
I love it when an arboreal character seems to photobomb a scene. This one seems to dance across the shot, just missing his cane and top hat. More misty goodness from Whiteleaf, Buckinghamshire
Another sunlight blast trying to clear the mist in Hillock Wood, Buckinghamshire. Loved the autumn colours on the woodland floor!
As the weather has turned grey and wet it is the perfect time to work through the autumnal scenes that have not seen the light of day yet. This scene, taken in Barnes's Grove, Buckinghamshire, with its blanket of copper ferns and leaves features a distant tree that appeared in an earlier shot, but taken further back where the area was beautifully framed by the overhang of the tree in the foreground.
Sat on a bank at the edge of Whiteleaf woods lives this wonderful clump of beech trees that watch over the road as it passes by below.
A low cloud sat over the woods yesterday and dragged me from my warm abode, even though it was a bit damp (the woods, not my abode!) It was a very grey affair but still some colour to be found in some sheltered areas. Taken in Hillock Wood, Buckinghamshire.
Taken in Barnes's Grove on a misty winters morning (I know its not officially winter but it feels like it!) Found this wonderful tree that I haven't captured before, having a sway with the remnants of its autumn foliage.
This poor birch has toppled and is being supported by a neighboring conifer. Taken deep in Hillock Wood, Princes Risborough.
These writhing, dancing shapes caught my eye as I was walking through Barnes's Grove, Buckingamshire
It was a bit misty this morning so dived into the woods before work and found myself deep in the conifers. It is easy to forget just how tall these are!!! Taken in Hillock Wood, Buckinghamshire.
A shot taken at the start of November last year that was never processed for some reason. Taken in Hillock Wood on a wonderful misty autumnal morning with still some green in the canopy to offset the lush coppery reds in the ferns and beech saplings.
Taken deep in Hillock Wood, a moss covered beech sports an amazing collection of tentacles. I'm not sure if this is part of the tree or another species. Any thoughts?
I was quite surprised to find this young beech still displaying a good proportion of its winter leaf considering it is sat on top of a hill and open to all the elements the British climate can throw at it. Fair play to it as it looks a little stunner! Taken on top of Whiteleaf Cross, Buckinghamshire at the start of the month.
Hacia mucho frío, el amanecer se mostraba tímido detrás de los Payachatas, el sol avisaba su salida con hermosos rayos de luz.
It was very cold, the sunrise was shy behind the Payachatas, the sun tipped off with beautiful rays of light.

Taken in the depths of Barnes's Grove, Buckinghamshire, I was quite taken by the shape of this tree as it looms out of the mist.
The tides at this bit of coastline is your biggest obstacle so if you are near the surf one eye is always watching the waves and the running shoes at the ready...
Looking at the cliff on the left you could assume that maybe there was a boulder there at some stage that was washed out judging by the round indent.
[Another deep sea fishing trip into the archives for unpublished imagery...]
In the heart of Namibia’s wilderness, a white rhino calf feeds under the watchful eye of its mother. As the golden sunlight bathes the savanna, this touching moment highlights the beauty, resilience, and vulnerability of these magnificent creatures. A testament to nature’s grandeur and the urgent need for conservation.
A stormy day was ending with a wonderful sunset at the St Kilda beach with the St Kilda pier in the background.
“Cold Shoulder!”
These two puffins made me laugh as the way they where behaving almost made it look like they had had a fall out and where giving each other the cold shoulder! 🙈😂
Taken on the Isle of May earlier this summer.

At this autumn morning high clouds covered most of the sky. For a few minutes the sky opened and the landscape was coated by pink light. And no, Switzerland has no active volcanos.

Another unpublished image from my Tongaporutu series. Will probably gather them up and do a blog on the website soon. Will link when i do...
These are or were covered over by sand the last time that was there. It needs a decent storm to move the sand bank so its not something those instagram influencers would rush in and do a snap standing on them like those ones in the South Island. Yay to that...
