An abandoned snail shell in our garden. It was about an inch across.
Happy Macro Monday!
I don't see these handsome birds often, so I was pleased to spy a flock of them feeding on the red berries on a tree at a local forest preserve. You may see an additional shot or two in coming days.

Until looking it up, I had no idea that some snails can live up to 15 years.
Snail shell is made of calcium carbonate and keeps growing as long as the snail grows. They keep adding more calcium carbonate to the edge until the snail reaches adult size.
Obviously snails are known to move slowly. But this particular specimen seemed to be in a hurry and made focusing surprisingly difficult.

I positioned a small sea shell ( 4mm diameter) in the smaller hole of a sea urchin shell and back lighted it with an LED torch light, there is an incandescent light at 11 o'clock and another LED torch light at 4 o'clock. I then focus on the small shell through the bigger opening of the sea urchin shell. I also adjusted the WB for incandescent light and I end up with these colours.
Many thanks for your visit, comments and favs..it is always appreciated..
