On the way from Napier to Palmerston North we took a detour to visit the longest place name in the world. Its basically a huge sign in the middle of nowhere.
Taumata-whakatangihanga-kōauau-a-Tamatea-pōkai-whenua-ki-tāna-tahu (Tamatea, the man with the big knees, who slid, climbed and swallowed mountains, known as landeater, played his flute to his loved one).
After driving all the way there my digital camera decided not to work so I had to get out my old Minolta. The colour and exposure is a bit screwy because I used an old expired slide film - half the photos on the film were too light and half were too dark.

Day 60 of 365.
Been missing a few days. I'm not going to crucify myself. I didn't sleep up for over two months.
This is a lovely rare palm in my friend Danny's yard.
If you climb up in his tallest tree you can see 100+ species of awesome palms
from all over the world. Pretty incredible sight.
Hopefully it doesn't get to cold this winter.

My Leekeworld Ariana has arrived. Her name is Floo Floo and she is currently in a "far from complete" state. She has been a pain in the butt so far, though. LOL! For starters, I had to take her head off to get her "top" on (it's actually a Liv Doll dress I manipulated into a top) and her stringing ended up snapping down into her torso and I spent a good hour trying a bazillion ways to get her back together. Luckily, I managed but not without tearing my nails and crying like a crazy person.
Also, her legs are kicky or SOMETHING. The design of the art body, while BEAUTIFUL to look at, is a pain in the ASS to actually manipulate. GOD! Her legs, unless sitting, refuse to cooperate with me and I'm not sure how to get them to cooperate since I'm not sure how to suede them. *headdesk*
But... just look at that face. In the end, after everything, she's still worth it. She's such a troublemaker, though. LOL!

Name given by a friend that took the photo. The three of us traveled together most of the time..
Letha had problems with her hands for a few years so we went to a side car. Back in the 50"s and 60's I had several sidecars and enjoyed them so this was real fun.. This sidecar had all the nice stuff.. Intercom, plugin for electric blanket, electric lift to keep it level with any load, full opening, so all I had to do was lower it down and Letha could walk in and set down.. It also had a top and and snap on windows but I only remember letha using them once..

Name: Nixie Finn
Story: Nixie's mother is a water sprite and her father was a human...unfortunately he did not survive his encounter with Nixie's mom. Mother Finn was so riddled with guilt that she sent her daughter to public school so that Nixie could learn to embrace her human ancestry. Unfortunately, blue skin and electric green hair do not fare so well on dry land, so young Nixie became painfully shy and took to wearing pants and long-sleeved hoodies to hide her "flaws". After an especially painful Freshman year, Nixie was contacted by her cousin Lagoona who encouraged her to pack her bags and start attending "Monster High". Nixie is much happier in her new environment, and even though she still prefers to linger in the background, she slowly seems to be coming out of her shell.
(Note: I do not actually know this character's name or monster parentage. She is a character who appears in the background of the MH cartoon webisodes. She was made by me using a Lagoona doll, and her outfit was created by girlplanet on etsy.)
ordnace survey trig point - brean down
The circular walk around the top of Brean Down has this week been named as one of the UK's top ten walks by a national newspaper.
The Guardian has been running a series of articles about the country's best places for hikers to pull on their walking boots.
This week, it named the three mile walk around the top of the Down - from Brean Cove to the wartime fort and back - as number nine on its list of ten top National Trust walks.
Robert Stephens, a warden for the National Trust, which oversees Brean Down, explains why the walk has been chosen in the top ten.
"Brean Down is a towering coastal peninsula nearly 100 metres high jutting out into the Bristol Channel."
"The Down gives exhilarating views of the Bristol Channel, Mendips, Somerset Levels, Quantocks and South Wales."
"Fossilised creatures such as arctic foxes, reindeer and horses have been found in the sedimentary layers."
"Walking to the end of the Down is my favourite part of the walk where the Victorian Fort slips into view, and descends towards a very lively sea, creating violent rip tides. Go on a windy day when you can blow all the cobwebs away!"
The other walks making the top ten include Morte Point in Devon, North Antrim in Northern Ireland, Ringmore in South Devon, Penbryn Beach in Ceredigion, Blakeney Freshes in Norfolk, Orford Ness in Suffolk, Craster to Low Newton in Northumberland, and Porthgain to Abereiddy in Pembrokeshire.
